Review of usage
[edit]I suppose that the usage of this template should be reviewed. It may refer to Republic of Kosovo instead of Kosovo as it does now. --Biblbroks (talk) 22:53, 6 March 2011 (UTC)

- Current article Kosovo is somewhat more inclined to be about Kosovo region than about Republic of Kosovo, I think. Also there is a new Republic of Kosovo article which isn't a redirect. That's why not only only the template itself should be reviewed, but its usage also. At least IMO. Regards, --Biblbroks (talk) 08:19, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
- You appear not to understand how these templates work. This template now produces a wikilink to
Kosovo
, which is what I presume is desired. — Andrwsc (talk · contribs) 08:31, 7 March 2011 (UTC)- It's rather that you appear not to pay attention to my words. Article Kosovo is not the same as article Republic of Kosovo - currently the Kosovo article's topic is more about region of Kosovo and additionally there is a specific article that covers Republic of Kosovo and its name is the same - Republic of Kosovo. Regardless of common name for Republic of Kosovo, since it is the same for region of Kosovo as well as Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija, currently the topic of Kosovo isn't Republic of Kosovo, therefore use of the term Kosovo in this template is to the least ambiguous. Read the discussions at Talk:Kosovo and Talk:Republic of Kosovo, and foremost check the Kosovo article topic. It doesn't suffice anymore for this template to just render the link to Republic of Kosovo - the template itself should be changed to reflect the situation of Kosovo article, or it should be completely dropped out and used Template:Country data Republic of Kosovo instead. --Biblbroks (talk) 17:02, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, I did pay attention. Let me explain this again: This template now works the same way as Template:Country data Macedonia, Template:Country data China, Template:Country data Ireland, and others. That is, they produce wikilinks such as
Macedonia
etc. Therefore, this template does not link to the Kosovo article, it links to the Kosovo article, which is what you asked for. — Andrwsc (talk · contribs) 22:47, 7 March 2011 (UTC) - Clarification needed: I've re-read your comment several times, and I'm not still sure of your intent. Are your suggesting that it is never appropriate to link to
Kosovo
, but instead articles should always link toRepublic of Kosovo
? — Andrwsc (talk · contribs) 23:14, 7 March 2011 (UTC)- I wanted to address an issue with this template - because the Republic of Kosovo has its own article. The usage of this template should be reviewed, is what I was trying to say. I was of the opinion that it shouldn't be appropriate to use this template at all, since article Kosovo deals with the disputed territory of Kosovo, not the Republic of Kosovo, and that the template Country data Republic of Kosovo should be used instead. But now that you have pointed out other similar cases, I am not that certain how to deal with this now. Regards, --Biblbroks (talk) 14:39, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
- I still don't see what usage needs to be reviewed. This template creates a link to the Republic of Kosovo article, not to the Kosovo article. — Andrwsc (talk · contribs) 15:50, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
- Well, if you agree with the assertion that Kosovo is a disputed territory and not simply a common name for Republic of Kosovo (and by this: Kosovo a country on its own), then the title of the template itself is contradictorius since it's impossible for Kosovo to be a country and not be a country at the same time. All the best, --Biblbroks (talk) 16:03, 17 March 2011 (UTC)

S.A. Julio, please add the following:
| flag alias-UNMIK = File:Flag of the United Nations.svg
= The reason I want to add this is that in the case when the matches of Kosovo's national sports teams are described before independence as an example Kosovo
→ Kosovo. I hope you understood what I meant. ManiacOfSport (talk) 15:45, 1 January 2022 (UTC)
