{{editprotected}} Image:European flag.svg has been deleted and should be replaced with Image:Flag of the European Union.svg. --ざくら 09:27, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've requested a deletion of Image:Flag of the European Union.svg, and the deleted European flag.svg should be replaced by Image:Flag of Europe.svg.S. Solberg J. 10:05, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I made the change. Please keep the editprotected tag right beside the request. — Carl (CBM · talk) 19:53, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

EEC etc.

[edit]

For historical usage, could we have this able to show European Economic Community, European Communities and European Coal and Steel Community (with its flag) instead of European Union?- J.Logan`t: 15:49, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Acronym

[edit]

The acronym EUR should not be linked to the European Union template. The only acronym for the European Union is EU. EUR is the acronym of Europe as well as the currency code of the Euro Tvx1 (talk) 16:59, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The redirect at "EUR" is used on about 400 pages, so these pages should be changed before Template:Country data EUR is deleted/retargeted. SiBr4 (talk) 18:00, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

European Union is not the same as Europe

[edit]

When placing European Union as party1 in EU-Singapore Free Trade Agreement it gets "shortened" to Europe which is quite incorrect. Could someone please fix this? --Rabenkind (talk) 14:27, 8 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, the shorthand name is wrong. If people put "EU", it should give "European Union" or "EU", not "Europe". Europe may be a colloquial name, but not a shorthand name. How do we get this changed? L.tak (talk) 05:07, 2 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
+1. It looks especially wrong on the articles involving actual European countries, e.g., Switzerland–European Union relations. And it's made worse by the fact that the flag commonly known as the EU flag is also used by the other European institutions: Flag of Europe. Seriously, it's like China-Asia relations. since this is still not fixed --Rabenkind (talk) 10:45, 6 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Precise request: Dont't shorten European Union to Europe but instead to EU. Thanks, --Rabenkind (talk) 10:47, 6 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
 Done.  — SMcCandlish ¢ >ʌⱷ҅ʌ<  13:54, 6 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Looking at EU-Singapore Free Trade Agreement it doesn't seem to be fixed. --Rabenkind (talk) 13:08, 8 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Rabenkind, It can take a while for template changes to work their way through to the pages which transclude it. Purging the page (menu item More -> Purge) forces an immediate re-rendering of the page - problem was fixed as stated. Cabayi (talk) 14:16, 8 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Please add this (you may need to copy the code markup in edit mode as some of it is not visible in preview mode):

| flag alias-coast guard = Flag of the European Maritime Safety Agency.svg
| link alias-coast guard = European Maritime Safety Agency
| altlink =
| altvar =
| variant =

Not done: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{edit template-protected}} template. Illegitimate_Barrister, you've just created this flag 2 hours ago based on a personal website http://loeser.us/ without any reliable source. Cabayi (talk) 07:52, 27 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please remove the shortname

[edit]

No other instances of Template:Country data use acronyms for shortname (e.g. UAE, USA, UK, etc). The result of this is templates showing EU instead of European Union in lists of countries. — Guarapiranga  07:36, 20 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that this should be changed. It especially seems out of place when the EU is in ranked lists with other entities, such as in List of countries by GDP (PPP).
It also looks weird when comparing the infobox on pages such as Brazil–European Union relations and Brazil–United States relations. TorreAzzurro (talk) 23:10, 5 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
