Where should The Book of Bond go?

[edit]

Although it isn't a novel, The Book of Bond by Bill Tanner (aka Kingsley Amis) is still a work set within the 007 universe. Should it be listed here? And if so, where? Perhaps under unofficial (though it was published by Jonathan Cape so that category's technically wrong, even though it isn't canonical). Alternately, it could be listed under Kingsley Amis with some header adjustments. Thoughts? 23skidoo 03:58, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Seeing no reply, I have added it under a "Related works" header. I considered putting it under Amis' name, however in doing so it might have been misinterpreted as a novel. Just so things are clear, The Book of Bond is an officially licenced tie-in work placed within the Bond universe, as opposed to being a book about the franchise (as is the case with The James Bond Dossier or James Bond: The Man and His World or the hundreds of others. So that's why I feel it's justified to list in on this template (if the Marscott book can be listed here, so can Book of Bond). 23skidoo 15:02, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

change

[edit]

Anyone wonder why User:CapitalR decided to change it to the other template. SpecialWindler talk 21:31, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Structure

[edit]

Hi, I'm not part of any of the projects that this template belongs to, so I don't want to fully redo the template but:
I think this template should somehow be re-structed or re-layouted. While reading it and trying to find the link/novel I was searching for I could not distinguish between the different sections of this template.

I'd suggest, e.g., some tabular-like layout with a column for the "headings" (i.e., authors) and a wider column for the novels. Or, you could at least align the text to the left. (I'd do some kind of restructuring if I get some kind of OK. :-) — Tauriel-1 () 12:49, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I made an example: User:Tauriel-1/Template:Bond books. Use it (i.e., copy it), if you want to. :-) — Tauriel-1 () 13:31, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Short stories belong here

[edit]

An editor removed some (but not all) of the short stories from the template. They belong here just like the others. However as I can see the potential for nitpicking, I've added the words "short stories" to the title line of the template. 23skidoo (talk) 15:28, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Weird spacing

[edit]

Can anyone remove the extra space in the Higson and Weinberg columns? 23skidoo (talk) 22:17, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hope it works better now. Sardanaphalus (talk) 23:11, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's perfect - thanks! 23skidoo (talk) 14:46, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Chronology

[edit]

Maybe we could put the books in order of timeline. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BenTheElectionMan (talkcontribs) 01:00, 18 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That's not how the templates work. They are always dividided as we have them here - as per the MOS. - SchroCat (^@) 07:27, 18 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

For the record, per Wikipedia:Red link:

"Red links for subjects that should have articles but do not, are not only acceptable, but needed in the articles. They serve as a clear indication of which articles are in need of creation, and encourage it. Do not remove red links unless you are certain that Wikipedia should not have an article on that subject." (Bolding in original)

Since the book is due to be released within two months, there is a good chance that an article will be written soon after, and the red link serves to point out the need for the article. - BilCat (talk) 19:01, 24 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Just do anyone knows, this does not at all apply to navboxes. Navboxes must be bidirectional per guidelines.★Trekker (talk) 16:58, 23 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Unofficial novels

[edit]

Hey,

Bond on the Rocks & Bond Unknown are new unofficial novels published in Canada due to the expired publishing rights.

Look at website: thebookbond.com (articles from 11 december 2015 & 4 december 2017)

Greetings,

This template is very bloated.

[edit]

There really shouldn't belinks and sections for each sinlge author. This should be formated like comic book navboxes for characters. Some of these authors have only written one book and it doesn't make much sense that each of the get included.★Trekker (talk) 17:01, 23 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Categories

[edit]

I have moved this from sub-category Category:Novel series navigational boxes to the parent category Category:Book series navigational boxes on the grounds that the template includes not just the Bond Novels, but also short story collections eg Octopussy and The Living Daylights as well as non fiction works like The James Bond Dossier. If anyone thinks it is better in the Novel series subcategory then I am happy to discuss this further. Dunarc (talk) 23:44, 12 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
