Redundancy

[edit]

Why is there land, water and total, why not just two of the three?--Patrick (talk) 18:39, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I tried to follow the source as long as it seemed reasonable, but I avoided to divide "water" into three kinds (seewater, the great lakes and others) as the source did. Also note that {{Infobox Kommun2}} contains three kinds of area. As long as it does that, it seems to bee the best solution to have a good source for all three numbers. -- Lavallen (talk) 18:56, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The result of a simple computation does not need a source. For example, it is common to compute a density, or to compute a unit conversion, you do both yourself in User:Lavallen/Infobox Kommun2. Thus it seems a little odd to store three areas instead of two. See also m:Help:Array#Redundancy.--Patrick (talk) 09:41, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The User:Lavallen/Infobox Kommun2 has now been changed, that I no longer need the numbers for the water. (And the code in that template looks even worse, I already thought it was ugly!) :) -- Lavallen (talk) 11:19, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You can also use auxiliary templates with something like {{formatnum:{{#expr:{{{1}}} round {{#ifexpr:{{{1}}}>500|0|{{#ifexpr:{{{1}}}>10|1|2}}}}}}}} km² ({{formatnum:{{#expr:{{{1}}}/2.59 round {{#ifexpr:{{{1}}}/2.59>500|0|{{#ifexpr:{{{1}}}/2.59>10|1|2}}}}}}}} sq mi), to avoid repeating the value of {{{1}}}.--Patrick (talk) 13:11, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Update required

[edit]

Update is required, the reference is dead. New data from Lantmäteriet is available from SCB (2019). 93.182.179.223 (talk) 06:06, 23 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I added an archive to the previous reference. If another user thinks that the new data is better, please replace it. Pianostar9 (talk) 00:46, 8 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
