Update and dating criteria

An editor recently removed a "whispered" instruction to update all team records at once rather than updating only individual teams separately and to note the date of the complete update. The instruction makes sense, as random updates of various teams at various times (probably with some updated and some not at all) would create chaos and make the template unusable. The user also removed the "Through games of..." date at the bottom of the template; this date, too, plays an important role, as an undated template gives Wikipedia users no information on whether or not the template is up to date. I undid the changes to restore the whispered instructions and the Through games of... date, as both are very important to keeping an active template useful. (It is legitimate to delete the whispered instruction and the Through games of... date after the regular season has concluded and the template is fully updated through the last games of the regular season, as no further updates are necessary after that point. But that end-of-season deletion should not be made until after the results of the 2015 season's final games have been fully reflected in the template. Highlighting the team

If a team is specified, its horizontal row is highlighted in a different color. Why isn't also the team's vertical column highlighted if team is specified? Yes, it would take some additional (somewhat complex) coding, but would give a better and more correct picture of the team and its record against opponents. Truthanado (talk) 00:54, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
