Ring of Silvianus
[edit]- ... that the cursed Ring of Silvianus, found in a field near Silchester, may have inspired J. R. R. Tolkien to write The Lord of the Rings?

- ALT2 ... that the cursed Ring of Silvianus (pictured) may have inspired J. R. R. Tolkien to write The Hobbit?

- Well-written, size and date are fine, no paraphrasing issues found, properly referenced including the hook facts. Hook is interesting and I'm fine with it as is, but some sticklers may prefer to say that the ring is allegedly or supposedly cursed. All that's missing is the QPQ review. - Review supplied, so good to go. MANdARAX • XAЯAbИAM 09:22, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
- The hook should be short and to the point but the field in Silchester seems to be a mundane distraction. The Hobbit is the work which Tolkien wrote first and is currently getting the most attention. I have provided some alt hooks and prefer ALT2 as the most succinct.
