Paris Mountain State Park
[edit]
- ... that Paris Mountain was named for the Indian trader Richard Pearis?
Created/expanded by WGENGLISH (talk). Self nom at 21:29, 12 November 2011 (UTC)
- Expanded fivefold (6733 characters now, 1302 on 11/3), but nominated more than five days since expansion in mainspace. This can in some cases be waived for new contributors, and I welcome comment if other editors think the time requirement should be waived, given that it was created prior to th eoldest date in the "older nominations" section. The cite for the hook should come immediately after the source of the hook in the article. Offline sources acceptable in good faith, and overall this is good work, especially for a new user. I am slightly ambivalent about piping Paris Mountain State Park to Paris Mountain, but think it's acceptable. Acroterion (talk) 22:45, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry you've had to wait so long for a reply to your question. The "Swahili" rule allows the time limit to extend in rare exception to about 8 days, but this unfortunately goes beyond that. Normally, I would reject a nom on that basis, but I'm inclined to let this one go just because it's not only a new DYK person, but also someone new to WP. In future, though, it's important to take note of the time requirement. If you begin the work in user space, you can take your time. If not, you have to get the nom in within the 5-day period (which begins on the day you start the expansion or it first appears in the main space). Also, keep in mind that there is a review requirement for people who have more than 5 nominations. Before your article can be approved, you must review an article. - Approved, offline sources accepted AGF. Since the first reviewer has not responded to my earlier post, I have jumped in to expedite some of these older noms. The backlog here really needs to be cleaned up. There was some information in the article that was date-related and some that read like promotional copy, which I toned down or removed. Time-related text has been removed or altered. This nom is very late, but is being accepted as an effort by a brand-new editor (who has, since nominating, been inactive). Hopefully, WGENGLISH will write more articles. Marrante (talk) 09:04, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
