Nia Sanchez
[edit]- ... that Miss USA 2014 Nia Sanchez is a fourth degree black belt in taekwondo who once worked for Hong Kong Disneyland?
- (ALT1) ... that Miss USA 2014 winner Nia Sanchez was the first contestant from the state of Nevada to ever win the Miss USA beauty pageant?

- The chronology of the "Early Life" section is screwy. Belle (talk) 10:50, 11 June 2014 (UTC)
- I added an ALT hook which I find to be quite interesting as well.--BabbaQ (talk) 14:15, 13 June 2014 (UTC)
- I don't consider that ALT that interesting. There have only been 63 Miss USAs and there are 50 states plus the District of Columbia. There are surely several states that have only had one winner so far or where a new winner would be the only one.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 17:01, 13 June 2014 (UTC)
- Well, it is still a choice for the closing user. Good to have choices.--BabbaQ (talk) 19:51, 13 June 2014 (UTC)
- It would be beyond mundane to say she was the first from her state considering how few states have more than one Miss USA.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 20:49, 13 June 2014 (UTC)

- If you want an alternative hook, how about the following?
- (ALT2) ... that Miss USA 2014 Nia Sanchez was involved in a carpetbagger controversy regarding her true residence at the time she won Miss Nevada USA?--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 21:21, 13 June 2014 (UTC)
- Both main hook and ALT1 are interesting, but I find ALT2 unduly negative. The article meets most requirements, but two sections need sources, which I tagged in the article. -Zanhe (talk) 04:35, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
- I continue to object to ALT1, but am open to suggestions. Not really sure why ALT1 is interesting to you though, as I have explained above.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 05:25, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
- As someone who knows little about beauty pageants, I do find it interesting that Nevada never had a Miss USA before. That being said, the original hook is arguably more interesting, especially if you could add that she worked as a princess at Hong Kong Disneyland. -Zanhe (talk) 05:31, 20 June 2014 (UTC)
- O.K. here is ALT3.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 06:48, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

- ALT3 looks good, but two unsourced sections still need to be taken care of. -Zanhe (talk) 07:43, 21 June 2014 (UTC)
