Miss'd America

  • ... that the grand prize of the Miss'd America pageant was once a Burger King crown and a bouquet of dead roses? Source: "There wasn't a big prize budget for the winner, either, just a once-gorgeous bouquet of dead red roses. The winner was anointed Miss'd America by having a paper Burger King crown placed atop their noggin." ([1])
    • ALT1:... that there's a beauty pageant for those who have missed Miss America? Source: "Miss'd America took its name from the fact that many gay pageant workers toiled behind the scenes during Miss America and never got to see what was happening onstage. 'They literally missed Miss America,' Helfant said." ([2])
    • Comment: This article contains a couple of quoted statements that Earwig will obviously flag. Please note that they're presented and cited as quotations in the article.

General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
QPQ: Done.
Overall: I thought this was well-done and very straightforward. The first hook is the better of the two. User statement about Earwig checks out, and is properly attributed. This is my first QPQ, though, and I would appreciate a second opinion. Etzedek24 (I'll talk at ya) (Check my track record) 17:49, 30 September 2019 (UTC)
