Maria van Oosterwijck
[edit]- ... that Maria van Oosterwijck included a specific species of butterfly in most of her major paintings (example pictured)?

- Looks good to me (offline source, but no reason to doubt it). Would it be worth linking to Vanessa atalanta rather than just "a specific species of butterfly"? Andrew Gray (talk) 09:45, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks. (Note: the relevant source is available on Google Books.) As for the butterfly, I think it's interesting that she included one species in so many paintings, but which species isn't really that important and I think the hook is better without it. - Sadly it seems to be US-only visibility for that volume! (This is the annoying unpredictability of Google Books). Up to you - I think I was surprised because the Red Admiral is one of the few butterflies I can actually name, so it always seems familiar and significant ;-) Andrew Gray (talk) 19:54, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
