Hearts and Souls
[edit]- ... that Jimmy Smits' Bobby Simone character, for which he won a Golden Globe Award and five consecutive Emmy Award nominations, made its final regular NYPD Blue appearance in the "Hearts and Souls" episode?

- - Article meets date and size, hook is sourced and interesting. I am suggesting the words be rearranged slightly below, to be a little clearer, but either is good to go. ▫ JohnnyMrNinja 06:04, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
- ALT1 ... that the NYPD Blue character Bobby Simone, which earned Jimmy Smits a Golden Globe and five consecutive Emmy nominations, made his final regular appearance in the episode "Hearts and Souls"?
- I am fine with the ALT.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 07:27, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
- Both hooks come in at 203 characters, which is too long for DYK. Please construct a shorter hook. Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 01:03, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
- In this case, is it O.K. to change five to 5 to get back to 200?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 01:10, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
- I struck-out Award, that should do it. ▫ JohnnyMrNinja 01:40, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

- Let me suggest another ALT, which takes the total down to 191, since even being just under 200 is no guarantee of publication as per WP:DYK: "The hook itself should be concise: fewer than about 200 characters, including spaces. While 200 is an outside limit, hooks slightly under 200 characters may still be rejected at the discretion of the selecting reviewers and administrators." This one also has the advantage of placing the featured article much earlier:
ALT2 ... that in the NYPD Blue episode "Hearts and Souls", Bobby Simone—the role for which Jimmy Smits won a Golden Globe Award and five consecutive Emmy nominations—made his final regular appearance?—BlueMoonset (talk) 01:54, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
- I've reduced ALT1 to 190. Either works, but I'd prefer ALT1 because there are fewer breaks (2 vs. 3). ▫ JohnnyMrNinja 04:24, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
- Either works for me. You can make a similar change to ALT2: "the role for which Jimmy Smits won a" becomes "the role which earned Jimmy Smits a", which puts it, too, at 190. I've listed it below as ALT3, and struck ALT2 since I think "earned" reads better:
