Axel Törneman

[edit]

Self-portrait, Axel Törneman, 1905

  • ... that at one point the only way to find Axel Törneman (pictured) was to follow the table napkins with his sketches painted on them in Paris coffee shops?

  • - Length and date check out. Foreign lang ref accepted AGF. Best, Mifter (talk) 04:44, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
  • Thanks. I included Google translations of most of the cites used for reviewer reference and added more cites after your review. — Sctechlaw (talk) 03:28, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
  • Google translate reveals unacceptably close paraphrasing of the passage used for the hook. The article has "the only way to find him was to follow the paper table napkins in coffee shops around the city with his sketches painted on them" while the translation reads "the only way to find him was to follow the pieces of paper with sketches which he painted on napkins in coffee shops around the city." A more thorough close paraphrasing check should be done once this is corrected, and (the reason I checked this to begin with) the "only way" hyperbole of the hook should be adjusted depending on what can reasonably be gleaned from the source: whether "best way" or "a good way" or just "one way his friends used". (The hook appears to be based on something recounted by Axel's grandson Hans; it might be nice to have something better than Google translate this, or at least the key words and ideas.) • ALT2 ... that Axel Törneman's (pictured) friends were able to locate him by following the sketches he left in Paris cafés?
Thanks for reviewing and catching that issue. — Sctechlaw (talk) 23:53, 26 December 2012 (UTC)
  • Close paraphrasing issues have been rectified, and further checks found no additional issues of that nature. Interesting article about a good painter. New ALT2 hook is approved based on article, which has sourced info as noted above. Previous hook has been struck. BlueMoonset (talk) 02:25, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
