In addition to some poorly written and inaccurate nonsense about scales that are not previously described but which are apparently important, soldiers that are said to be present but then suddenly "appear", and the introduction of a previously undescribed character named "Digeo" who is also apparently masquerading as de la Serna, the Plot section is over long, and skips a major scene early in the film. In the excluded scene, "de la Serna" (de la Vega) witnesses the public flogging of serfs and is told by a young Black slave about the African/Vodun legend of the "Spirit of the Black Fox" who will come to rescue the slaves from this tyranny; it is at this moment in the film that de la Vega begins to mentally fashion his transformation into Zorro. As written, it sounds like de la Vega discovers a secret passage in the mansion and later just happens to show up inexplicably in costume. The fact, as presented in the film, is that the passage leads to a forgotten subcellar that can be used as a secret base of operations, and he fashions the costume and identity to tie in with the African legend. 71.200.140.35 (talk) 14:56, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Either the intro is wrong, or the plot is wrong. If it is really the only Zorro film set in South America, then it can not be about Zorro's return to Spain, unless there is some kind of alternate universe timeline happening involving a world where there is still one large Pangaea continent.
