Unexplained revert
[edit]User:LuciferAhriman, do you have a reason for this revert? -- Kautilya3 (talk) 09:54, 23 October 2022 (UTC)
- Tibet is currently an administrative region in China, so place name using Pinyin-to-English is more appropriate than Tibetan-to-English.
- Before 1950 or If Tibet is separated from China in the future, I have no objection to using Tibetan-to-English. LuciferAhriman (talk) 00:50, 24 October 2022 (UTC)
- But you removed the Tibetan name entirely, and the sources provided for it! Did you even look at the sources? You cannot delete sourced content without a good reason. Your China argument is not a good reason. This is English Wikipedia. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 06:34, 24 October 2022 (UTC)
- I will follow rule which is current administrative territory. LuciferAhriman (talk) 14:27, 24 October 2022 (UTC)
- Please consult WP:RS. The administrators have no special place on Wikipedia. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 19:40, 24 October 2022 (UTC)
- I mean, "current administrative territory" is "current controlled territory". LuciferAhriman (talk) 18:14, 25 October 2022 (UTC)
- There is no separate "territory". It is the same territory, and the same name, except that the Chinese spell it in their own strange ways. You are not making any sense, I am afraid.
- "Drongpa" is how the English speakers as well as Tibetans and Tibetologists spell its name. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 20:00, 25 October 2022 (UTC)
- Whatever you say, foreigners are allowed Lhasa to Everest Base Camp and Purang County to Mount Kailash with permit application, not allowed to enter other places in Tibet. LuciferAhriman (talk) 10:07, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
- By the way, I have no objection to using "Drongpa County" as title of main page in "tibetic language wikipedia". LuciferAhriman (talk) 10:13, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
- Likewise, I have no objection for you to spell it as "Zhongba County" in the Chinese langugage Wikipedia. In English Wikipedia, we spell them the way it is spelt in English. In addition to the two good citations given in the lead sentence, here is a very recent scholarly source:
This battle zone was along the western Nepal border, between Lektse (Laze)[79] and the Kunggyu Tso (Gongzhu) Lake, covering an area of about 50 kilometers from north to south and 170 kilometers from east to west in Drongpa (Zhongba) County, a sparsely populated pastoral area 4500 to 6000 meters above sea level.[1]
- This makes it clear that the Tibetan spellings are used as the primary spellings in English, not the Chinese versions. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 10:57, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
- In disputed areas, I respect the outcome of the war unless the facts are changed.
- I would recommend that Urdu-to-English translation be the main principle in topics of Gilgit-Baltistan and Free Kashmir, that Hindi-to-English translation be the main principle in topics of Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Arunachal Pradesh, and that Pinyin-to-English translation be the main principle in topics of Xinjiang and Tibet. LuciferAhriman (talk) 11:08, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
- You can recommend whatever you want, at the right place. But you are required to edit Wikipedia according to its policies. Please see WP:RS, WP:TITLE. You have made an unexpained revert in violation of Wikipedia policies, yet to produce any source or policy-based explanation for your revert. The above comments are completely out of place and have nothing to do with the issue on hand. I think I have given you enough opportunity to explain your revert. Now I am going to reinstate the edit. If you have a problem, please take it to WP:RSN, WP:NPOVN or WP:ANI. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 11:15, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
- Because most Chinese people only read and maintain Chinese-based Baidu Encyclopedia, seriously, they don't care much about translating Wikipedia topics in other languages. Wikipedias in other languages are Free Taiwan, Free Tibet, Free Xinjiang, people in China overseas or people who speak the native language are writing, it is more likely that sovereignty issues will arise, so that sovereignty fanatics have been editing claims LuciferAhriman (talk) 11:31, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
- You just write it according to the way in the book LuciferAhriman (talk) 11:49, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
- But you didnot cited reference in Talks LuciferAhriman (talk) 11:54, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
- such results are stated differently on Wikipedia in different languages LuciferAhriman (talk) 11:58, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
- The citations are in the article. Do you mean to tell me that you reverted an edit without even checking the sources? -- Kautilya3 (talk) 12:02, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
