I would like to verify a story about rav henkin . did he have two wives ,and did his first wife die a few years after their marriage? did he have children from his second wife and how long were they married, thank you very much 204.128.182.26 (talk) 19:48, 28 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Removed debate from main article.

I removed the text below from the main article (and fixed the link to HebrewBooks). The first point is interesting, but unsourced, and may be refuted by the cited source. It seems to me to be a wash, with a result of nothing left for the main page.

This is a particularly interesting heiter (permission) since Rav Henkin did not allow for the concept of Cholov Stam; i.e., milk which the government supervises as a form of kosher; making canned tuna (which is boiled in milk to give it more weight) using in the same product both the heiter of Cholov Stam and tunafish, which means that neither Rabbi Henkin nor Rabbi Feinstein would eat the product, as made. This is incorrect - Rabbi Henkin did allow Cholov Stam and he wrote an explicit responsum stating just that in his Teshuvot Ibra # 43 - see here: http://hebrewbooks.org/pdfpager.aspx?req=22080&st=%D7%97%D7%9C%D7%91&pgnum=74
