YORKTOWN
[edit]This article is a little short. I'm going help build it up. Rayisthechosenone 23:10, 10 November 2005 (UTC)
Why isn't there a picture of the Rock? Seems like it'd be fairly easy to acquire. wdaher 17:30, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
Yorktown Theatre
[edit]I think this belongs in another url and not this one. It's too specific and not the only club/group at Yorktown. All in favor of moving it? Rayisthechosenone 02:36, 13 December 2005 (UTC)
I hear you Ray. At the very least, cut out the POV drivel steeped throughout it, if we can, so it doesn't look like YHS is a full of ourselves drama school... David 23:25, 13 December 2005 (UTC)
Ok, there's also a Yorktown High School in Yorktown, New York...

[edit]This article is written in an informal, magazine or school paper style. It needs to be rewritten as an encyclopedia article. A lot of information should probably be deleted, as being too temporary or insignificant for inclusion in an encyclopedia.
Example (now removed): "In early October of 2005, the Rock was buried under mounds of dirt by long-time rival , Washington-Lee High School. Student David Fuchs' reaction: "They're just jealous because our school is cooler." Sophomore Vice-President Raymond Lee adds in: "What's up with those W-L students digging out our rock? It's even worse than those H-B Woodlawn students graffitying our buildings." At current time the rock has still only been partially excavated, due in part to the large size and weight of the boulder."
editing
[edit]propose cutting out much of the theatre section
yeah some random thearte tech fanboys wrote that... i already deleted most of it. And sign with the four tildes, y'know. David 13:11, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
Principals?
[edit]It might be an interesting exercise to list past principals and when they've served. The problem is that there isn't really too much institutional memory at Yorktown, though. wdaher 23:37, 28 January 2006 (UTC)
Arlington Schools
[edit]Not that this makes much of a difference, but the template at the bottom of the page lists "Jefferson" as the name of a middle school in arlington, but the name is really "Thomas Jefferson." this could present some problems if it is ever defined. Does anyone know how to change that template to have the correct wording and link?
- As someone who went to Jefferson, I can assure you that while everyone calls it "TJ", its official name (through APS) is actually Jefferson Middle School Sdej 03:40, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Yhslogo.gif
[edit]Image:Yhslogo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Schools Assess
[edit]Nice article. It is a B, but are there no Alumni? oh and no bad press? It seems a bit one-sided.... is this true? Victuallers (talk) 18:41, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
Yorktown High School Theatre again
[edit]It was decided to merge Yorktown High School Theatre back to this page because it didn't meet notability requirements. Consider looking through the last version [1] to see if anything can be used. Best, --Jh12 (talk) 13:42, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
The Rock
[edit]I deleted some of the text on the rock subject. It was trivial, of no use to somebody trying to learn about the school, and sounded like it was written by somebody who thought using the word hooligan is clever. I also don't think a rivalry which nobody really cares about in either school is worth mentioning in an encyclopedia. Text deleted listed below.
" In 2002 the Rock was buried next to its normal position, allegedly by hooligans from local rival Washington-Lee who dug a hole and then rolled the Rock in. It was not resurrected until over a year later." Best Wishes, Robin.dave (talk) 05:57, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
Notables
[edit]The list of notables who supposedly graduated from Yorktown was purged for lack of cites per WP:NLIST. Please do not revert this nor add people who have had no contact with Yorktown whatever without providing WP:RS that they have done so and in what class did they graduate or were associated with. (Don't have to graduate, but need to have been reliably in a class year). Student7 (talk) 18:42, 22 December 2014 (UTC)
- I followed through on this recommendation by reinstating the entries that had citations for class year and removing the entries that did not have citations. Feel free to review the history and reinstate any others where you can cite a reliable source for the class year. --hulmem (talk) 01:26, 23 December 2014 (UTC)
