Blissett

Hello York fans. I'm just updating the Luther Blissett article and was wondering whether any of you could give a reason as to his departure, as well as the date. HornetMike 12:59, 26 January 2006 (UTC)

Away Kit

It would seem from this picture [1] that York have a new, dark blue away kit, so I'll change it. - Deathrocker 17:34, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

Loan

Do we really need this "out on loan" thing?... seems kinda redundant when non of the players are out on loan. Maybe it should be added when (if) they go out? - Deathrocker 20:30, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

Note: Flags indicate national team as defined under FIFA eligibility rules. Players may hold more than one non-FIFA nationality.

Most Capped Player

Shouldn't the most capped player be Jon McCarthy as he has 19 international caps with Northern Ireland? -- Mattythewhite 19:19, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

I don't think he achieved those caps while he was playing at the club though. Peter Scott did. - Deathrocker 19:31, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
Oh right, thanks for clearing that up. -- Mattythewhite 19:47, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Notable former players

There has to be a way of listing "notable" players. The list at List of York City F.C. players is currently limited to those who have played >100 times for York. So where do Jonathan Greening, Neil Warnock et al go? Either that list of players must use some criterion other than >100 appearances (maybe either >100 appearances or having their own WP article would do nicely) or they must be included in the main article. Snalwibma 11:08, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

Exactly, those notable former players belong in the article, but somebody keeps blanking them. - Daddy Kindsoul 21:33, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
Like I've said before, what makes these "notable" players stand out from other "notable" players? Why are they so special to be on the main page? Also, take a look at some featured articles; do you see any scruffy notable players given on their pages? No. They have lists, which are at featured status! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mattythewhite (talkcontribs) 09:01, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

Lead

If the 2nd and 3rd para's were swapped, it would lead on from the first much better, I feel 86.155.244.92 11:07, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Grammar

I don't have time to run the full rule over this article for its FA candidacy at the moment, but I did notice that this sentence does not make grammatical sense: "They participate in the Conference National, having spent much of its history in The Football League, rising on occasion as far as the Second Division.".... Spoken version added

I have added a spoken version of this article; see the link at the top. Hassocks5489 21:34, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Blue on kit

The section on the kit history mentions blue being removed from the kit in 2005 (and that some fans weren't happy with that) but I can't see anything mentioning when it first appeared. I remember it being red shirts/socks, navy shorts from the mid-80s onward but don't know in any more detail than that - can anyone enlighten? For the record, I liked the blue - so many teams have red & white kit, red & blue is a bit different. I guess red shirts with white trim are more easily bought off-the-peg, while red and blue might need to be made specially. Brickie 12:14, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

first appeared in 1978, from then until 2002 there was always atleast a navy trim.. and most of the times navy shorts. it was taken out during the Batchelor era for the silly racing flag kit.. the following season it return after Batchelor was gone. but since 2004 there has been no navy at all, not even a trim.---SalvoCalcio 06:59, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
Back this year, and with a vengeance. Brickie (talk) 15:11, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Galloway

Steve Galloway, City of York Council leader, said his aspiration was for a 10,000-seater stadium to be built, which would be
home to both York City and York City Knights, although, speaking at the launch of his party's election manifesto on April 3,
2007, he said it may be smaller initially, at 6,000 or 7,000 seats.[28]

I am not sure that YCFC shared Galloway's aspiration for the stadium. Can anyone confirm? --Malcolmxl5 19:53, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

I thought this would be worth a mention in the article. It doesn't really matter if the club had the same aspiration, at the end of the day he's said it. Mattythewhite 19:55, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
Wow, that was quick, Matty! I don't disagree that it was said, it just gives the impression that the matter of the stadium is one for local politicians to dictate when my impression (as someone who lives in York) is that it's a matter that the club wants to decide. I can't verify it so we should leave it as it is. We will hear more about the stadium before the end of the year. Incidentially, do you want to add that Dr John Sentamu, Archbishop of York, is to become patron of YCFC as announced last week?[2] --Malcolmxl5 20:50, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
I'll give it a mention in the Suppoters secion. Mattythewhite 20:57, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

third kit

sames wikipedia's favourite 16 year old boy who thinks he owns this article in at it again. the CURRENT third kit is shown on the front pages ot the OFFICIAL website[3][4]it is light blue and maroon, what possible reason could you have to rip out info such as this?--CalcioSalvo 12:01, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

More of the insults. I think thats simply why you shouldn't be allowed to edit Wikipedia, because you simply aren't mature enough. Wow, I'm 16. Big wow. What an insult. I recommend you grow up. Why should some kit thats going to be worn like 3 times in its existance be shown, but yet the original kit, which has great significance, be snubbed, because you prefer it? Mattythewhite 12:06, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

its an insult that you sadly follow me and think you're a big clever boy by messing with the infos i work on here. the third kit is an official kit CURRENTLY in use by the club, as per the OFFICIAL website if they feel the need to put it up on their front pages, then its safe to say its relevent. why should a kit that isn't use anymore at all be there instead of one which is used by the club NOW, just because you prefer it? you need an attitude ajustment and need to realise its ok for others but you to edit this clubs articles. i recommend you grow up.--CalcioSalvo 12:18, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

Stop. It is commonplace to show an historical kit on good football articles here in Wikipedia, see Arsenal F.C. for example. Secondly, a third choice kit is of little relevance whatsoever. It's likely to never be worn. Thirdly, no need for all the bold face shouting. Fourthly, asking people to grow up shows a real lack of maturity. Please cease, you have already been warned. The Rambling Man 12:22, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

The problem is the templates after external links. I don't have time to figure out which one. I'm just trying to read the article, which is way too wide to do so with those templates there. -- 09:24, 26 August 2007 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.241.18.156 (talk) 09:24, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

Probable upcoming problems with User:Eir Witt sockpuppets...

Just a quick heads-up for the editors of this article. Now that Simon Rusk has joined York City, expect frequent edits from sockpuppets of the banned User:Eir Witt. For whatever reason, EW seems to loathe the concept of 'footballing nationality' and will take every opportunity to repeatedly change the flags in the squad list to those of the players' nation of birth. Tonight's edits by User:Yeir Witt are a textbook example of his MO. Unfortunately, this will probably be a frequent occurrence from now on (he seems to be a big Simon Rusk fan - but any player who has represented a country other than that of their place of birth seems to be fair game). EW uses lots and lots of sockpuppets - often sleeper accounts in order to evade semi-protection, often with similar names to the regular editors of his target articles. The Northwich Victoria F.C. article has been pretty much locked down tight for months because of his repeated, tendentious edits. Keep an eye out, folks. Cheers. --Kurt Shaped Box (talk) 00:31, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

I added the following to the YCFC page: a refeence to YCFC and popular culture. It was automatically removed because it contains a YouTube link to the actual classic comedy sketch by Lee and Herring. Perhaps it can still be included, but without the link? User:Punavuori

As part of Lee and Herring's Fist of Fun TV series, they investigated rumours that York City FC possess rare magic powers. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Punavuori (talkcontribs) 13:52, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

£2.1 million loan

York City Council are poised to lend York City £2.1 million to help ease the club’s financial burden[5]. Is that worth a mention? Perhaps it would be better to wait until the whole Council approves in September? What do you think? --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 22:55, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

Hmm... I'd say include it now. In the history section? Mattythewhite (talk) 09:36, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

Average attendance

The average attendance figure was changed recently to read "average home attendance of 2,443 for the 2007–08 season" with a reference of soccerbase but looking at the reference the figure is for the 2008-09 season which is under way. There appears to be no history of attendance per season given so how can this figure be given with this reference? Keith D (talk) 21:18, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Micheal Gash/gash?

I recently made a page on Micheal Gash. However, the name it's under is Micheal gash. Is there anyway of linking that page to the York City page?

Oh my user name is Duno96. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.71.247.8 (talk) 18:28, 19 July 2010 (UTC)

Sorry, but Gash currently fails WP:ATHLETE as having not appeared in a fully-professional league, and as such a wikilink to his page is not necessary. Cheers, Mattythewhite (talk) 18:36, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
