Name?
[edit]I've changed the article to say "Aiyegbeni Yakubu", to match the article title, but there do seem to be a lot of sources calling him "Yakubu Aiyegbeni". Is this just a common mistake, or is it some sort of Nigerian name formation thing, similar to some Asian names? (e.g. Park Ji-Sung is sometimes known as "Ji-Sung Park", rightly or wrongly). — sjorford (talk) 12:57, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
- The article name is a mistake. Yakubu is the family name but the correct order is Yakubu Aiyegbeni.
DCFC
[edit]I realise it isn't a massive deal, but wasn't he set to make his debut in English football with Derby County? Then an issue with the Foreign Office arose over a work permit issue, and the deal fell through, only for understandably aggrevated Derby fans to see him turn out for Portsmouth a few short months later. Worth of a mention in the article?
Aiyegbini Yakubu
[edit]Aiyegbeni Yakubu is the way it is on Middlesborough's site, that must be it --- Theworm2345 02:10, 11 December 2006 (UTC)Theworm2345 02:09, 11 December 2006 (UTC)—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Theworm2345 (talk • contribs) 02:07, 11 December 2006 (UTC).
Transfer to Everton
[edit]At the current time this has NOT taken place yet. Please do not edit page to say he is an Everton player until the move is officially confirmed, as he's not and it's still possible (even if unlikely) that the move may not go through. Hengler 19:18, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
Squad Number
[edit]Not a huge issue, admittedly, but does anybody have a cite for him being given number 9 at Everton? There's nothing on the official site or on the SkySports website to suggest this, and I've been informed by a number of people that he's actually going to be number 22. If that could be cleared up it'd be great. Hengler 21:49, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- I've removed the number. Everton are usually quick in giving squad numbers, but aren't being to speedy for Yakubu clearly. Mattythewhite 22:01, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
Real age
[edit]As highlightde by Moyes recently, it's not actually that sure what his real age is. Should this get a mention or does that fact that theres no evidence rule it out? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.144.69.104 (talk) 15:38, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
In the Article it says he was born in 1979 in one place, then 1982 in another. Someone should fix this —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.78.9.65 (talk) 19:22, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
appearance and goal totals
[edit]The table showing his Premier League scoring history does not add up. Middlesborough second season has 17 league and 4 cup, total 16. Everton appearances are 29, 1, 3 and 7 respectively, but the total is 39. I didn't amend them since I don't have the correct figures.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.194.247.160 (talk) 20:36, 13 June 2008 (UTC) I found the Everton stats on the Yakubu career stats link at the bottom. The Middlesborough stats have been changed to 12, which matches the total of 16 on the link but wasn't changed by me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.194.247.160 (talk) 15:37, 15 June 2008 (UTC) Subsequent to that I've also undone two previous edits - One changing his nickname to 'The Yaku' (??) and the other changing his goals scored for Everton in the stats next to the intro to 22 goals (these stats clearly only relate to the EPL - is this correct?) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.194.247.160 (talk) 15:47, 15 June 2008 (UTC) to avoid being associated with those who change things to less accurate info, i've now created an account and the previous notes on this from the IP 87.194.247.160 were from me Bertcocaine (talk) 15:52, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
References
[edit]-How do you make someone's name a reference? I've added in several references at the bottom regarding the Yak's shirt number, his goals last season and the fact that he's the first EFC player to score over 20 goals since Peter Beardsley. I want to add a link on Beardsley's name to his page though and am not sure how to this. Any help? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sausage Faced Weasel (talk • contribs) 21:22, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
- Double square brackets around his name creates the link: [[Peter Beardsley]]. --Jameboy (talk) 21:41, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
Highest Scoring African in the Premier League
[edit]Where is this stat from? Surely it's not true - Didier Drogba has four more than him I believe for a start.94.169.7.109 (talk) 23:50, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
Aiyegbeni OR Ayegbeni
[edit]Which actually is it? does anyone know?? as the article has the 'i' in it, but his name is written in the article without the 'i'. Everton FC's website has it without the 'i' also. XTomScottx (talk) 21:24, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
Muslim
[edit]I noticed when he came on as a sub for Reading F.C., that he crossed himself, not something most Muslims would normally do.I'm not saying he isn't Muslim, many Nigerians have mixed Christian/Muslim heritage. I was just curious??
- I removed the Category:Nigerian Muslims because there is no evidence that he is... JMHamo (talk) 17:26, 17 March 2015 (UTC)
