2020
[edit]The page World Rally Championship-2 should be moved to World Rally Championship-3 with the name change. Just a name change, no new series was started. Pelmeen10 (talk) 18:24, 1 January 2020 (UTC)
- I quote [1]: WRC 3 will be a direct replacement for the current WRC 2, with just a drivers' title available to genuine private competitors. ---Pelmeen10 (talk) 18:26, 1 January 2020 (UTC)
- That is just going to make a mess of things. Moving the WRC-3 article is justified because of the change in regulations. But in the case of the WRC-2, the regulations have remained almost identical. All you're going to do is create confusion. Mclarenfan17 (talk) 12:09, 2 January 2020 (UTC)
- The move WRC-3 to WRC-3 (2013-2018) is simple to understand. For the new WRC-2 and WRC-3 (or as in 2019 WRC-2 Pro and WRC-2) its a bit tricky. They are a split up from old WRC-2. The question is: who is the continuation of old WRC-2 (Super 2000 World Rally Championship or S-WRC)? If, WRC-3 is considered as a direct replacement of old WRC-2, like the quote, WRC-2 should be moved to WRC-3, and a new WRC-2 article should be created starting in 2019 as WRC-2 Pro. For example in 2020 World Rally Championship-3, the previous edition is 2019 World Rally Championship-2. Looking at the drivers from old WRC-2, some took WRC-2 Pro and some run in WRC-2 (now WRC-3). Either way will be messy and bit hard to understand in the future for someone outside.Rpo.castro (talk) 10:45, 3 January 2020 (UTC)

Merger proposal
[edit]- The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
- The result of this discussion was to merge. Rally Wonk (talk) 21:55, 17 February 2023 (UTC)
I propose World Rally Championship-3 (2013–2018) should merge to this article.
- Two articles containing two halves of the same subject is not user friendly for the average user who is not knowledgeable of the subject
- AFAIK, only one source with two rolls of honour supports the 'continuation of series' reason for the split. It's neither sufficient, justification or citable. (See "The statistics are based on our database and may not be accurate or complete".) Besides which, this reasoning can easily be explained with appropriate headed paragraphs of history or tables in a statistics section. Same with any source that says WRC3 was cancelled for 2019
- There are season pages for each year to drill down into specific regulations for each year
- Navboxes and infoboxes would be easier to understand and use
- Gilbert (2015), Rossel (2021) and Joona (2022) all won what is commonly WRC3. a, b, c

While this page and World Rally Championship-3 (2013–2018) were merged, it was not done correctly - it should have been done the other way around. Merge articles into the older article with longer history. This kind of move can only be executed by admin. (Note: before the merge, this article covered the years 2020–2022 of this competition) --Pelmeen10 (talk) 00:06, 18 February 2023 (UTC)
- The merge was done correctly to WP:MERGE with appropriate copyright attribution. I saw no extraordinary reason to contest what says to avoid merging histories because they have been edited in parallel. I can help merge the Wikidata items in seconds if it's the only remaining concern? Rally Wonk (talk) 10:27, 18 February 2023 (UTC)
- Wikidata is not a problem. This article was created in 2020 (being split from the other page), while the first "World Rally Championship-3" which was moved to World Rally Championship-3 (2013–2018) was created in 2007. Mentioned it here. I wonder if histmerge is totally out of question while that page had no significant edits after 2020. Pelmeen10 (talk) 11:01, 18 February 2023 (UTC)
- I'm clearing the adminhelp template as it's been sitting here for several days and has not grabbed the attention of any administrator. If you think a histmerge is what's needed, I suggest you post a request at WP:AN. Not all admins patrol the adminhelp category, and you should reach a larger audience at AN.--Bbb23 (talk) 21:05, 22 February 2023 (UTC)
