[edit]Kudos to whoever: 216.170.226.98 is for vastly improving this page. Woodmans is a great supermarket chain and deserved a much better page than it had. Kevinydianita 17:12, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
Advertising
[edit]"The company does relatively little advertising, and attributes their lower prices to these practices."
Since early 2007 they have been advertising quite frequently. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.168.50.188 (talk) 23:08, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
External Links and Photos
[edit]1) Can someone please add photos of the store and some links to Woodman's stuff on here? thank you.
- Got the photo today. I didn't know of the request. You should have added it to the Category:Requested photos in Wisconsin. Royalbroil Talk Contrib 19:39, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
2) Yes, some links would be very helpful :) ... I cannot find anything about the stores.
- Woodman's doesn't have an official site. And given their business model, I don't think they'll have one. --Woohookitty(meow) 07:43, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
Woodman's In Illinois
[edit]There's also a Woodman's in Carpentersville/Algonquin, Illinois on Randall Road:

[edit]Isn't it finished? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by The Person Who Is Strange (talk • contribs).
- Last month, the city council approved the certified survey map (i.e. building plan) as recommended by the plan commission, and the latter approved concrete-crushing operations at the site (to remove old construction). So groundbreaking should be fairly soon. -- Dhartung | Talk 08:02, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
Sounds like an Advertisement?
[edit]This page has "This article or section is written like an advertisement." tag on it. But I cant really see any section of the copy that sounds like an advertisement. Everything is factual, the prices are lower, the stores are huge, the stores are old looking inside and built with cheap materials, Produce is obviously purchased in bulk as witnessed by the massive pallets they stick them on the floor in, and it does vary in quality regularly, the liquor stores are twice as large as most others in the area and carry a lot more brands, including regional brands. They dont allow credit cards and they don't advertise much. In addition, almost every paragraph is both factual and has a negative counterpoint. They are cheap, but they stick stuff out in the boxes they were shipped in, they are cheap, but the produce and meat can be of poor quality, etc. Whoever put this on the page should have to say why and justify their claim. If I saw a problem I would fix it, but I don't see anything wrong or incorrect with this page. Jericho4 (talk) 20:57, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
Third Citation
[edit]The third citation doesn't seem to exist anymore. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.188.116.66 (talk) 21:00, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
Number of Locations?
[edit]The article alternately says Woodman's has 13 locations and 14 locations, even though one is currently under construction and another is in the planning stages (as far as I know; as of the time I'm writing this they may have broken ground already on the Waukesha location). For the sake of consistency, we should establish a number of locations, even if it means clarifying that one store is being built and the other is in the planning phase. Altoona and Grand Chute
[edit]The Grand Chute location was originally listed as Appleton. If someone would like to switch the location back to Appleton, then the Altoona location should be switched to Eau Claire, considering both Grand Chute and Altoona are both part of the greater area of Eau Claire and Appleton. Shurfine brand no longer at Woodmans
[edit]This page states "The store brand is Shurfine, which is one of the many brands of Elk Grove Village, Illinois-based private label co-op Topco Associates."
I'm unsure whether Topco ever kept the Shurfine brand after merging. But now we only see other Topco brands like Food Club, Crav'n, Top Care, and Simply Done in the store
You can see Topco does not list Shurfine on their website: https://www.topco.com/Who-We-Are/Brands And no Shurfine products are for sale at Woodmans: https://shopwoodmans.com/store/woodmans-food-markets/s?k=shurfine 73.22.57.200 (talk) 13:01, 29 July 2024 (UTC)
