Jang Won-young → Jang Wonyoung – Per WP:COMMONNAME, She is often referred to without the hyphen, with or without her surname. This includes her company profile [1] and in the news [2][3][4]. Perhaps more importantly per WP:NCKOREAN, where there is a personal preference, Wikipedia should forgo the hyphen, and she has forgone the hyphen on her own Instagram [5]. I don't believe this would be confusing for anyone as the hyphen doesn't have a role in differentiating her name like it would for 유나 vs 윤아, so I think we should honour the name on her Instagram and company profile. I also think this applies to An Yu-jin but if this is uncontroversial I believe we can just move that one over too. Orangesclub (talk) 04:34, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Support moving from Jang Won-young; but suggest considering to move to Wonyoung instead. The Teen Vogue article you've linked to only uses "Wonyoung"; WMD and NME uses 'Wonyoung' in the title and a mix of Wonyoung and Jang Wonyoung in the article. I understand this not as shortening "John Smith" to "Smith" by manner of typical journalist conventions, but use of her mononym, as mentioned at the top of the article. The official company profile uses simply 'Wonyoung', as does the Instagram profile you've linked. Comment; I'm happy with either Wonyoung or Jang Wonyoung, I included her surname as she does work beyond her role in Ive where she is usually listed by both names, but also I acknowledge that to the English speaking world she is known mostly as Wonyoung. Wonyoung → Jang Wonyoung – Cracking open a discussion on moving Wonyoung to Jang Wonyoung. Back in July there was a proposal to move from Jang Won-young to Jang Wonyoung, but the article ended up being moved to Wonyoung instead without much discussion or supporting evidence.

It doesn't seem like the subject of the article has ever been known as "Wonyoung" in any official capacity; she was known as "Jang Won-yong" in Iz*One, and is specifically one of two members of IVE that officially use their full names, not a mononym (the other being An Yujin). See: IVE official listing at Starship Entertainment, and official Spotify artist page.

In addition, English-language reliable sources seem to commonly refer to her non-monomously (at least as commonly as they do mononomously): Dazed Magazine, Maeil Business Newspaper, Korea JoongAng Daily, WWD, The Korea Times, The Sun, Republic, South China Morning Post, The Korea Herald, The Chosun Ilbo, Yonhap News Agency, The Korea Economic Daily, The Hankook Ilbo, Aju News Corporation, Korea Broadcasting System

I think that given that there are some sources that refer to her mononomously, and some sources that refer to her with the full name, we should defer to the way she is known officially unless the evidence to refer to her otherwise is overwhelming. She is officially non-mononomous in all her professional solo MCing and hosting credits, her group work (both groups), her agency, etc. The only quasi-official place she's used "Wonyoung" is her Instagram name and even that's debatable because immediately prior to that she calls herself "Jang Wonyoung" in Hangul.
