William Richards Castle, Jr. is an interesting case. Although he he held a "career appointment" with the State Department, he rose meteorically in the government, in large part due to his political connections. Nonetheless, given his significance in pre-WWII foreign policy, he deserves to be recalled.

Huh? Was he "career", only served 11 years and the state department web site does not think so.

Also he founded the Fox Club in 1898; he was not a member of the Phoenix S.K. Club67.134.207.235 (talk) 17:36, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
