NO Hot Dog?

We call hot dogs "wiener schnitzels" and also "Vienna sausages" in America. Why no reference?73.220.34.167 (talk) 22:23, 8 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm a U.S. American and I've not heard a hot dog called a wiener schnitzel, but I've commonly heard wiener, which as far as I know is short for the German Wiener Wurst, i.e. 'Viennese sausage', which is covered in the article Vienna sausage. Ibadibam (talk) 19:37, 8 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Wiener Schnitzel → Wiener schnitzel – Although German capitalizes any common noun, like Schnitzel, English does not. And we use WP:ENGLISH. Ibadibam (talk) 20:24, 8 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose if it was English it'd be "Viennese schnitzel", but "Wiener" is a German adjective hence capital S for German noun. In ictu oculi (talk) 21:18, 8 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Support per WP:USEENGLISH. Just because it derives from German doesn't mean it's German. Common usage in English is "wiener schnitzel", not "Viennese schnitzel". --В²C ☎ 23:19, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
