[edit]How does using Unicode gammas interfere with editing? It makes the wiki markup far neater. I'm going to restore the Unicode characters for now; if there is a problem with using Unicode would someone mention it here please? — Knowledge Seeker দ 03:05, 24 September 2005 (UTC)
- It makes the page harder to edit. Please direct further discussion to User talk:Curpsbot-unicodify; issues of this nature have been debated endlessly at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Mathematics; familiarty may be gained by going through the archives. linas 16:42, 24 September 2005 (UTC)
- I don't think "It makes the page harder to edit" was a very clear reply; as you request I will discuss this on Curpsbot talk but I would appreciate an answer to my question. — Knowledge Seeker দ 03:56, 25 September 2005 (UTC)
- Try it. How, exatcly, is one supposed to enter a gamma, roman or italic, without grabbing a hold of the mouse at some point, in order to do a cut-n-paste? What if this is the first time you get to a gamma on this page? Is one supposed to go to another page, which happens to have a gamma on it, and cut-n-paste from there? There is pretty much no way to edit this stuff without having to have the hand fly to the mouse, which is a pretty highly inefficieint way of editing. Never mind that a page with a mixture of the two styles is harder to scan. Again, I feel that if you had direct experience editing math pages, you would understand these issues; this is exactly why I consider this kind of edit as "meddling". linas 19:05, 25 September 2005 (UTC)
- You could enter a gamma by typing
γ
as always; there is no need to cut and paste Unicode symbols. I agree that cutting and pasting would be an inefficient method of editing. I have edited math pages, albeit very occasionally, and none has been recent. And I have edited pages that had Unicode symbols on them before; I was able to successfully edit them without the Unicode causing a problem. It is precisely because I don't understand how it could be a problem that I am asking you these questions. I'm not saying that it is impossible that it could be a problem, just that I don't see how the Unicode symbols affect your work at all, and I would like to understand. — Knowledge Seeker দ 04:06, 26 September 2005 (UTC)

"level" not introduced
[edit]This article uses the term "level" without introducing it. Apparently this term refers to the parameter k? Joriki (talk) 05:46, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
