[edit]

This entry tackles a fundamental controversy that has been entirely ignored by all related welfare entries on Wikipedia. Since criticisms of welfare across Wikipedia tend to be minimal and scattered, I have found no good place to attach this information in existing articles. I created a new article in an attempt to: 1) provide a location for people to discuss studies about the cultural/behavioral effects of welfare across each nation, and 2) detail this controversy’s evolution in the United States. I have attempted to provide a fair and balanced evaluation of this controversy by citing peer-reviewed articles, books, and government studies.

Evidence of the behavioral effects of poverty

[edit]

I did find "comprise the mentality of the impoverished" to be extremely amusing ("comprise" is the real culprit, as it not merely implies, but specifically states that they have no other thoughts in their heads). I looked up the book, and not very surprisingly, neither "comprise the mentality" nor "mentality of the impoverished", appear anywhere in that book. So I rewrote the phrase.
