Plattsburgh (city), New York
[edit]Has anyone else noticed an extremely striking resemblance to Plattsburgh (city), New York? This was completely unintentional, and the lead is worded very similarly to this ones despite being written a lot longer ago than this ones, plus the name of it is (city), New York, same with this, with a requested move to get rid of the (city) part due to a hatnote at the top saying there is an adjacent town of the same name. This was completely unintentional and I find that rather funny Lallint⟫⟫⟫Talk 17:03, 16 February 2022 (UTC)
- I literally wrote the entirely lead with a huge resemblance to that article unintentionally Lallint⟫⟫⟫Talk 17:09, 16 February 2022 (UTC)
Split proposed
[edit]I propose to split the history section of this article into History of Watertown, New York as the section is around 30 kb large. Lallint⟫⟫⟫Talk 17:15, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
- 30K kilo, that's 30 megabytes! ~ ToBeFree (talk) 17:35, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
- lmao Lallint⟫⟫⟫Talk 18:24, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
- but could you say something about the nomination like whether you support it or not Lallint⟫⟫⟫Talk 23:25, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
- no? ok :( Lallint⟫⟫⟫Talk 23:49, 23 February 2022 (UTC)
- dude cmon say something Lallint⟫⟫⟫Talk 23:31, 26 February 2022 (UTC)
- 🗣️🧱 So I think it would be a good idea to split the history section as there is some more information about it that I cannot include in this article because it is already long enough so it would be nice to have some consensus as to whether or not this would be a good thing to do 🗣️🧱 Lallint⟫⟫⟫Talk 19:35, 2 March 2022 (UTC)
- I'm not ToBeFree, but OK, I'll bite.
- As it stands now, I'd say the history secion is not disproportionate. Without more detail about this "more information about it," its volume and nature, it's hard to assess your proposal. Maybe you could make a history section with the other information in it and shop it around to see what folks think. Dgndenver (talk) 16:00, 21 March 2022 (UTC)
Macomb vs Macomb
[edit]I thought it a little odd that a 9-year-old Alexander Macomb would have made a large land purchase, and even odder that he would be hiring surveyors for it. I looked around a little and found that there were two Alexander Macombs, father and son. The father, [Macomb (merchant)] bought and sold land. The son who was 9 in 1791, [Macomb (general)|Alexander Macomb (general)], was, well, a general. Dgndenver (talk) 15:51, 21 March 2022 (UTC)
- Looks to me like someone thought the latter Macomb was meant and didn't check around, and decided to indicate the error in the text. I thought it was vandalism, until I read this. Daniel Case (talk) 07:02, 30 March 2022 (UTC)
Virgo Mortensen is from Watertown NY. It’s in his profile.
[edit]You forgot about Viggo Mortensen…from Watertown. He is a great actor. 2603:9000:7800:4600:CC7A:FF8D:598A:EE77 (talk) 11:37, 26 July 2022 (UTC)
- No, he was not forgotten at all. He's listed at List of people from Watertown, New York. --Jayron32 15:58, 26 July 2022 (UTC)
