We have categories for people from the Russian Empire because people lived in the Empire. He clearly was a resident of the Russian Empire and acting as a Revolutionary during that time. The category clearly fits.John Pack Lambert (talk) 19:35, 31 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If an editor does not like the Category:Revolutionaries from the Russian Empire they should nominate it for deletion at CfD, not try to pick people out of it who clearly meet its parameters.John Pack Lambert (talk) 19:41, 31 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

With respect, do you have consensus for these changes or are you operating based on the assumption that people should be placed into more specific categories wherever possible? I don't have strong objections to him being in "Revolutionaries from the Russian Empire" so long as this category exists. But it is nonsensical to simultaneously remove these people from "Russian Revolutionaries". -- asilvering (talk) 19:42, 31 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
