Rename section -- COI request
[edit]I suggest renaming the Institutional decline section. I think a suitable title could be Enrollment decline and institutional challenges
.
The problem to address is that "institutional decline" easily reads as a decline in quality and status. Which isn't supported by the data, e.g. rankings.
The main challenge is that enrollment has declined, the university has shrunk. VU has faced concomitant challenges along the way, e.g. the controversy over selling art and the closure of the law school. But I think quality and reputation have largely been maintained.
"Enrollment decline" would be accurate but doesn't capture the resulting challenges, "Institutional challenges" is perhaps too vague, but I think better covers that the university has been facing and reacting to challenging times without saying that reputation and quality have diminished. Putting the two phrases together, e.g. Enrollment decline and institutional challenges
or simply Enrollment decline and challenges
could be the most accurate.
I have a conflict of interest. Yea though I am a long time Wikipedia editor, I won't reach in and edit. But I'm open to discussion of course. -- M.boli (talk) 19:17, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- I've changed the section title to "Enrollment decline and financial challenges." ElKevbo (talk) 15:42, 23 November 2024 (UTC)
