[edit]Jeez, Thanks for fixing up this page. It looks great! One problem is that when I started this page, I didn't copy all of the species over -- there were just too many of them. You may have noticed that 'birds' stops abruptly on the letter 'M'. There also aren't any reptiles, amphibians, or plants listed. If you want to, you'd be welcome to go the the Fish and Wildlife service page to get the entire list (www.fws.gov). That would be a heck of a lot of work, though.
Thanks again for your efforts! Matthias5 02:57, 18 August 2005 (UTC)
Rename
[edit]I've placed a merge notice to rename this article to United States Fish and Wildlife Service list of endangered species. The current name is inaccurate. -Gavin 15:58, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
- Renames are not done that way. They are done with the "move" tab above the article. I've deleted the cut-and-paste job you did (also a no-no) and will be moving this there. - UtherSRG (talk) 16:13, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
- What is an official name?
- United States Fish and Wildlife Service list of endangered species
- Federal list of endangered and threatened wildlife and plants
- U. S. list of endangered and threatened wildlife and plants
How should be separate lists named? --Snek01 (talk) 22:21, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
Gazelles
[edit]The common name and species name don't go to the same article for Arabian gazelle, Gazella gazella. Same for mountain gazelle (Cuvier's), Gazella cuvieri. Probably easy to fix... —Pengo talk · contribs 10:39, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
Date should be clearly stated
[edit]Since the ESA is an evolving document, and species can change in status or be added/delisted, this article should have a date at the top, for no other reason to remind future editors to check for updates. The references themselves should be updated or checked for accuracy on an annual basis (Reference 1, revised in 2007, is currently a dead link). Animalparty (talk) 20:15, 21 October 2013 (UTC)
Status of Gelada
[edit]Looking at the article on the Gelada, its conservation status is given as "Least Concern." Does not seem like it should be included among threatened/endangered species. 2601:600:8781:13B0:2D8B:B148:95A4:8CC8 (talk) 22:25, 24 March 2023 (UTC)
- Gelada baboons are a threatened species according to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.[1] The designation of "least concern" was given by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, which is a different entity. 108.18.207.147 (talk) 19:54, 26 December 2023 (UTC)
