Page move

[edit]

I moved the page to US Lacrosse from U.S. Lacrosse because the name of the group is US not U.S. Smith03 15:54, 14 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Recently alot of work to this page has been contributed by User talk:Uslprassoc & User talk:128.220.245.12. Unfortunately their are a number of problems with these edits: 1) there also some obvious cut & paste copyright violations from the US Lacrosse website, & 2) the edits are reading like an advertisement for US Lacrosse (mostly because of the above mentioned copyright violations)

I attempted to clean up some of these issues, but have had my attempts reverted a number of times already.[1] [2]

I will give you time to respond to these concerns before I revert your edits based on the items stated above. If you have any comments or questions. Mitico (talk) 14:45, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

US Lacrosse is attempting to update their Wikipedia page to make it accurate and up to date and comprehensive. To address the following concerns: 1)We are attempting to footnote, referencing the website. The US Lacrosse website is property of US Lacrosse (where my IP address is coming from). 2) This is not reading like an advertisement, this is informative and accurate information about the services and programs that the national governing body of the sport offers.
While we are still rookies at Wikipedia we still want to ensure this page is as accurate as possible. Any tips or tricks on posting references and images would be helpful. Uslprassoc (talk) 15:18, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
First, I would suggest to stop editing this article and thoroughly read WP:COI. Wikipedia is a collaborative effort and any notion of article ownership WP:Own is frowned upon. Second, I would learn more about editing by actually editing other pages. Maybe create an article for a Hall of Famer or a US National Team to get your feet wet -- though maybe not your intent.
Regardless of you being from US Lacrosse, I still think direct cut & paste of text is (or at least most likely is) a copyright violation. The membership & development sections most certainly sound like advertisements. Seriously, step back and read this: Members get 10 percent off books, videos and merchandise from the Lacrosse Museum gift shop. The shop is located in the Lacrosse Museum in Baltimore, Md --or-- US Lacrosse members receive discounts on gear, games and more with their membership card. Confertel, Hertz, Nationwide Insurance, U.S. Bank, Brine, Warrior and ClifKid are just a few of their affinity partners and following up items with an external link called "More info" -- this is advertising. (read: WP:Spam) If these items are unclear to you, it is because of your conflict of interest. I am more than willing to help if you have questions/etc. --Mitico (talk) 16:18, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mitco: It is confirmed that using this text is not copyright violation. It will stay and I encourage the flag at the top of the listing to be removed. Additionally, the information listed is indeed informative and useful to readers listing programs and services that the non-profit, national governing body offers. Feel free to check out Wikipedia entires for similar organization - similar information is listed. However, we will remove the names and specific information regarding membership. Thank you in advance for removing the flag at the top of the page. Colleenlax8 (talk) 17:56, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Confirmed by whom? Presuming this refers to Copyright owners who submitted their own work to Wikipedia? Obviously the goal, mine and yours, is to improve the article and also to keep it within the boundaries of wikipedia. So anything I can do in that manner let me know. H.S. All Americans

[edit]

I removed this table off of the main page. If desired a separate page called List of US Lacrosse High School All Americans could be started, and the below links could be used as references. Seemed like extra information to me that could be summed up with "US Lacrosse annually names High School and collegiate All-Americans." -- or something to that effect. Mitico (talk) 15:18, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

      • removed chart placed back on article page

Mitico - We prefer to keep the table up there so readers can see the lists of All-Americans. It adds to the information by listing past All-Americans. Thanks anyway, though. Colleenlax8 (talk) 17:53, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thats fine. When you say "We" do you mean the royal "we"? Mitico (talk) 18:29, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
