Modernization
[edit]The article contains the text: "Reported to be one of two Brooklyn-class cruisers to be modernized, Savannah being the other, with twin 5in/38 guns, there is no photographic evidence of this happening,[6] and Mark 37 directors." I'm willing to agree there is no photographic evidence of this happening: I can't find a post-repair picture of the ship. But more importantly, who said it did happen? Friedman discusses this point around p. 340 in his cruisers book, says that the Savannah repair was so expensive that she was the only Brooklyn to be rearmed, although three others were blistered. Because Friedman says it never happened, I don't know what the point is in including the idea that maybe it did (and not being clear who asserted this in the first place), but that there is no proof. I hate removing content that others thought important to add, but it just seems crazy to even mention this. So I am removing all mention of it, including removal of "modernization" in the intro paragraph.Busaccsb (talk)
