I removed the image that was on this page Image:Dd692-amsumner.jpg, because I just wasn't convinced that the ship in that picture is necessarily the Allen M. Sumner. I'm sure that it is of the Sumner class of destroyers, but according to the ships DANFS entry, she transited the Panama Canal on 29 August and then was in the Pacific at least through December. Thus I don't think it can be her if the date on the image is correct (8 November 1944). Also I happened to find a good picture of the ship on it's DANFS entry. Malo 10:03, 19 September 2005 (UTC)
