Transport Asset Holding Entity of New South Wales
[edit]@Marcnut1996:As I am looking at updating stations and lines to show the new owner's name, should we use the full name as above or the abbreviation as mentioned in the article TAHE or as I would suggest Transport Asset Holding Entity leaving out the state name. I would create a redirct for that so that we dont have to expand each wikilink to show the full name. What do you think?Fleet Lists (talk) 02:02, 4 July 2020 (UTC)
@Fleet Lists: Maybe we can use [[Transport Asset Holding Entity]] in those articles, redirecting to this article with the state name. Marcnut1996 (talk) 03:03, 4 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Marcnut1996: Exactly what I had in mind - here is a list of three I have just done as a trial [1] I have some other station updates lined up - I will include the new name in conjunction with those changes. Fleet Lists (talk) 03:24, 4 July 2020 (UTC)
@Fleet Lists: Sounds good to me. Thanks for making these changes. Marcnut1996 (talk) 12:53, 4 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Marcnut1996: Your latest changes raise another question. Some stations like Gordon railway station, Sydney have the ownership in both the Infobox and article lead. The latter would now not be correct. Could you change it to what you think is the correct wording and I will then look through the others I have already done to see which ones need to have the same change made.Fleet Lists (talk) 07:25, 6 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Fleet Lists: One way to change it is to say "Transport Asset Holding Entity, a state-owned corporation of the Government of New South Wales" or similar, but I personally think just removing the sentence altogether since the owner is not as important as the operator of the station (i.e. Sydney Trains or NSW TrainLink). Marcnut1996 (talk) 23:22, 6 July 2020 (UTC)
- Furthermore, who knows if one day TAHE ceases to be an SOC and becomes a NSW agency, just like RailCorp or Sydney Ferries did in 2009. Then, we would have to change every sentence to state that TAHE is an agency of the NSW government. Marcnut1996 (talk) 23:24, 6 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Marcnut1996: The idea to delete had also crossed my mind. Only a small percentage of stations has this sentence so they could be considered non-standard. So delete it is. Now for the next question. What do we do with the various ferry wharves which show the owner as the now non existent Roads & Maritime Services? I noticed that Manly ferry wharf and probably others also show a similar sentence in the lead.Fleet Lists (talk) 01:05, 7 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Fleet Lists: RMS is now Transport for NSW, so showing the owner as Transport for NSW should be correct, until TAHE takes over ownership in the future. Alternatively, the sentences or info may also be deleted. Depends on how many articles have such sentences. Marcnut1996 (talk) 01:11, 7 July 2020 (UTC)
- Manly wharf appears to be the only one with that sentence in it - the others just have the ownership in the Infobox only so we we will just standardise on Transport for NSW in the Infobox until TAHE takes over.Fleet Lists (talk) 03:30, 7 July 2020 (UTC)
