Too hard to find Categories
[edit]I finally found "Category:Visitor attractions", after extensive work on this article. I doubt that a casual reader has any chance of finding it. We need a better way to point to categories if we're going to rely on readers finding them. Simesa (talk) 23:48, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
- By the way, neither "category:Visitor Attractions" nor "category:Tourist Activities" includes "golf" or "golf courses". Simesa (talk) 14:30, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
Merge and Re-name
[edit]The article Tourism didn't have a place for See Also'ing this article, and the "Attractions" section of Tourism in the United States was puny, so I merged that section into this article and renamed it. Simesa (talk) 14:30, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
Adding Mall of America
[edit]I have added the Mall of America to the list, although it has previously been added and then removed, the Mall of America is not only a place where people go to shop, the also go to visit the indoor theme park, the underwater aquarium, the 14-screen movie theater and to visit the large LEGO and American Girl store's. There are also various events such as book and movie signings and celebrations such as New Years. Any object please state here. JayJayTalk to me 17:40, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
Geographical Map of Tourist Attractions with Ranking
[edit]Can anybody contribute a link to a map with the geographical location of tourist attractions, which is able to show different categories and rankings of such attractions ? I only know the material provided on the maps of www.viamichelin.com but it is rather uncomfortable, hidden and cannot be sorted according to the number of stars attributed to a tourist spot. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.230.36.86 (talk) 11:39, 23 March 2014 (UTC)
Template produces poor PDF (print) output
[edit]PDF output using Google Chrome's built-in distiller produces poor results with this page. (Use the Ctrl P command in Chrome to preview). Issue may be with the template used or (more likely) the the way content was entered (coded) into the template and saved by the contributor. For example, when printing this article with Google's PDF printer, the first page has too much white (wasted) space. Note that the font size should not dynamically scale up or down to fit a page; font size of the main-body text content should be about 12 points on outputted PDF page(s); it is the images and table cells that should dynamically scale up or down to fit the info box and template in order to maintain the two-column Wikipedia layout. The offending elements appear to be caused by the separation of the tables and images. Refer to this Wikipedia article for a proper printer-friendly layout using tables with images -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_active_German_Navy_ships Printchecker (talk) 16:57, 24 September 2014 (UTC)
Historic (/former) tourist attractions
[edit]I've changed the last section of this page somewhat. It had previously read "historic tourist attractions" and had included the borscht belt, the salton sea, and seattle, wa. The first two are an interesting category of places that were once thriving tourist attractions and have by now totally disintegrated, but Seattle, WA is a thriving city that is still a current popular destination. I've removed it from the list, and renamed the list to "former tourist attractions." I'm sure the list can be expanded (Atlantic CIty, NJ, has for some time threatened to drop into the category). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.84.34.56 (talk) 15:40, 28 April 2015 (UTC)
