The result of the move request was: page moved. Note that virtually all of the incoming links already pointed to the new article name. Vegaswikian (talk) 20:24, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Torre de los InglesesTorre Monumental — I have no opinion either way on the article name to use but given the history of page moves, I do not believe this was suitable for an "uncontroversial" move. Currently at this article name per WP:COMMONNAME. Wee Curry Monster talk 23:43, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Reject Per WP:COMMONNAME I would suggest it remains where it is but again no strong feeling either way. Wee Curry Monster talk 23:43, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support The Official site calls it "Torre Monumental". "Common name" applies very little, this is just a minor touristic landmark. MBelgrano (talk) 00:38, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Torre Monumental is the official name of the tower since 1982. This must be taken into account, because Wikipedia reflects this in its policy as it does use official names for articles and places - especially when the names of places and objects have been officially renamed. The former name Torre de los Ingleses, which is a little known landmark in the city, is also much less used than the official name. Saguamundi talk 10:59, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Because the official name "Torre Monumetal" is also as frequently used by the local population. There are a lot of non-official Spanish and English sources which use the official name. I have been to Buenos Aires in 2009 and 2010 and I have frequently heard the official name "Torre Monumetal" used by (non-official) locals for the tower. For instance the name changes from Bombay to Mumbai or from Calcutta to Kolkata did occur and these newer names which were hardly used before outside India are put as the article names for these cities in Wikipedia. (However it is important to point out that the tower is virtually unknown outside Argentina, and is also little known in Argentina outside the capital and that its former and newer official name is restricted to Spanish.) Another criteria cannot be used for naming of the tower particularly basing it on the vague assumption of WP:COMMONNAME, because it is not true that "all" locals "unanimously" still refer to it as "Torre de los Ingleses". This type of "unanimity" is not only misleading but is also incorrect. Menikure talk 14:26, 01 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
For information, my understanding is that though the name was "officially" changed, the "official" name is not much used eg [1][2][3][4]. The locals still refer to it as Torre de los Ingleses rather than by the "official" name. So per WP:COMMONNAME would suggest that it stays where it is.
