[edit]The 1911 Encyclopædia Britannica lists his father as C. Papius Celsus, but one of my books (Pro Milone, edited by F.H. Colson) says he is "son of T. Papius Celsus". Elsewhere on the internet, there is only Gaius Papius Celsus, so Ive left it like that. But possibly other websites got their information from 1911 Encyclopædia Britannica/Wikipedia. Or perhaps its a typo in my book. Hpmons 15:02, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
Question: this page says, "In 53 BC he murdered Publius Clodius Pulcher", but the Clodius page says, "Publius Clodius Pulcher (born around 92 BC, died January 18, 52 BC)". Which date of death is correct? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.194.166.213 (talk) 23:22, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
- Well spotted. Based on the standard biography of Clodius Pulcher, the date of the murder should be January 18, 52 BC. See Jeffrey Tatum, The Patrician Tribune (University of North Carolina Press, 1999), pp. 239–240. Googlebooks offers a limited preview, but regrettably these pages were not available for viewing when I checked; I'm looking at a hard copy I have at home. Hope the error stays fixed on both pages now. Cynwolfe (talk) 15:09, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
I edited the existing content here so it can at least be read without confusing & conflicting sentences, but this entire page needs to be redone. There is far more relevant content around the death of Clodius in the page on Cicero's speech in defense of Milo, Pro Milone that could be transferred. Or perhaps the entire thing can be redone by consulting various biographies of Pompey or Cicero. Egthegreat (talk) 07:51, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
