Date of Birth

According to the CWGC entry he was 52 years old at the time of his death, which would make 1889 a more likely year of birth than 1898. As far as I see it, the Findagrave entry is the only source for the dob. Could it be that there is a simple typo from 1889 to 1898? Any other sources that confirm his dob?
