Thomas Ring Petersen → Thomas Ring – Peteresen is just his birth family name. He is known as Thomas Ring. There are no other significant individuals with this name. The Scottish footballer, the only other individual in Wikipedia with a similar name is known as Tommy Ring, not Thomas Ring werldwayd (talk) 20:48, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
- Comment but who is better known under "Thomas Ring", the Scot or the Dane, in the English language world? -- 65.94.76.126 (talk) 05:26, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
- The Scot is only known as Tommy Ring, not Thomas Ring. See for example his obituary in Scotland Herald that refers to him even upon his death as Tommy Ring http://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/spl/aberdeen/tommy-ring-1.375618 BBC calls him "the legend Tommy Ring". http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19589847 No "Thomas" mentioned in the piece, just "legend Tommy".... For all intents and purposes, the Dane Thomas Ring is the ONLY one known as Thomas Ring in all his recordings, and never as the full name Thomas Ring "Petersen". See for example http://danishcharts.com/showinterpret.asp?interpret=Thomas+Ring or his album Break the Silence where "Peterson" is non-existant http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:BreaktheSilence.jpg werldwayd (talk) 21:48, 9 May 2013 (UTC) werldwayd (talk) 21:50, 9 May 2013 (UTC)
- Support. We should use the most common name for the person. A hatnote to Tommy Ring will point anyone looking for the Scottish footballer to the right article. Jafeluv (talk) 04:48, 13 May 2013 (UTC)
