I'm curious, how did you learn about TB Peddie? Have you seen my website? www.newarkhistory.com/peddie1.html Dinopup 00:00, 7 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

some mysteries of article

[edit]

1. how does subject get from immigrating to hightstown to becoming mayor of newark? hightstown is not next door to newark. article is missing transition.

2. the mention of his shop on "broad street" is confusing. google maps indicates there is a "broad street" in hightstown, but the more famous (i'm sure) "broad street" is in newark. one could easily suspect that his business was in newark. needs confirmation and clarity in writing to avoid cross confusion between the 2 broad streets.

3a. one could easily assume (a dangerous concept!) that the "first baptist church" to which the subjectc donated was later renamed "Peddie Memorial Baptist Church" (this memorial church is mentioned in the "legacy" section). needs confirmation and, if so, loop made.

3b. who is H. J. Latham and where did he published quoted material?

4. "legacy" section indicates that "peddie school" was named after him. wiki article on Peddie School indicates that subject donated US$25,000 to found the school. subject's article is silent on this financial matter. as peddie school article is mostly unsourced (as is subject article), hesitant to pull language from there.

5. "patent" section.

a. it would appear that the patent described was owned by subject. how to verify and flush out section.

b. unable to easily find dope on what a "pellesier" might be. "define:pellesier" at google fails me; wiktionary has no entry either. am assuming it's something to do with tack work (saddlery) or other leather-travel field

6. photograph has no caption (specifically no date taken).

7. would expect info box to follow style of Ed Koch or patrick moynihan or charlie rangel. (i'm not experienced in info box templates, etc.)

8. "he was president of the Board of Trade" which board of trade? was there/is there a NJ board of trade? a newark b of t? was subject affiliated with the new york board of trade (seems a stretch).--71.183.238.134 (talk) 03:58, 18 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
