Palestinian victory

[edit]

Isn’t the Israeli army withdrawing and Hamas and allies remaining combat effective the definition of a victory in guerrilla warfare? If the article on the Vietnam War can openly say “North Vietnamese Victory” I have no clue as to why the same can’t be said here. Ilovethedajjal (talk) 06:07, 14 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The article should err on the side of Israeli victory, as other articles on this site rely on ISW for post battle assessments. In this instance, ISW, as a reliable source, claims Hamas to be combat ineffective in Khan Younis. https://www.understandingwar.org/backgrounder/israel-defeating-hamas-destroying-hamas-will-require-post-war-vision Elektriknik (talk) 18:23, 18 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
hamas literally did an attack on Israeli vehicles a few days after an Israeli retreat, combat ineffective is an excuse for their inability to properly do an offensive 3 times 185.127.127.22 (talk) 15:52, 23 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia rules require coming to these decisions based off of consensus from reliable sources. Hamas "did an attack" does not contradict the assessment that combat ineffectiveness is the current state of Hamas in Khan Yunis, because combat ineffectiveness does not preclude low-level insurgent attacks. You are not here to against reliable sources without reliable sources that say exactly what you are trying to express. This discussion should be moved to try and gather consensus that relies reliable sources. This is not a forum for editorialization or opinion. Elektriknik (talk) 18:54, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
