Scots College (Sydney) → The Scots College (Sydney) – Moved without discussion in July 2015; "The" is part of the official name. –LaundryPizza03 (dc̄) 16:23, 24 October 2020 (UTC)
- Support, consistent with usage within the article and List of Old Boys of The Scots College (Sydney). Pinging previous movers, Steven (Editor), Handsdown.1 and StAnselm. – Fayenatic London 12:21, 26 October 2020 (UTC)
- Comment: The relevant guideline is WP:THE. But it doesn't seem like the disambiguation is needed since The Scots College redirects to this article anyway. StAnselm (talk) 12:40, 26 October 2020 (UTC)
- Scots College (Paris) seems to use 'the'. Oculi (talk) 22:28, 26 October 2020 (UTC)
- IMHO The Scots College should be re-targeted to the disambiguation page. – Fayenatic London 21:44, 28 October 2020 (UTC)

- Support per nom. Steven (Editor) (talk) 00:52, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
- LaundryPizza03, Fayenatic london, StAnselm — I have a question, shouldn't this be disambiguated by state rather than city, so The Scots College (New South Wales) if this is the only school of this name in the state? Some Australian schools are already titled like this, we do need to be consistent (I prefer the state option btw). Steven (Editor) (talk) 01:07, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
- The disambiguation page Scots College lists two other Scots Schools in NSW, so in this case I think Sydney is required. – Fayenatic London 08:06, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
- Fayenatic london I'm not sure, I looked at the two other Scots Schools in NSW — you have Scots School Albury which has the Albury location in its name (part of its name) and Scots School, Bathurst which redirects to Scots All Saints' College (formed via the merger of The Scots School, Bathurst and All Saints' College, Bathurst). I think The Scots College (New South Wales) would be appropriate here and a hatnote can be used. What you think? Steven (Editor) (talk) 18:40, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
- I see a couple of schools using the state in parentheses as disambiguator within Category:Boys' schools in New South Wales, but it seems more common to use the town name after a comma; likewise within Category:Boarding schools in New South Wales. That would suggest renaming to The Scots College, Sydney. Can you point to categories within which the state is more commonly used? – Fayenatic London 21:44, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
- The big issue is that there is no consistency at present, some are disambiguated by comma and the ones with parentheses are either by town/city or state — You can see this by looking at the different categories for schools in Australia. I think we do need to have some sort of naming convention developed for schools which would be good. Steven (Editor) (talk) 20:20, 4 November 2020 (UTC)

- Comment, it is obvious that the college likes to refer to itself as "The" Scots College. The question however is how it is being referred to in independent sources. For example here http://www.smh.com.au/national/education/scots-college-students-steal-hsc-trial-exam-papers-in-latenight-breakin-20170808-gxrk2n.html, "The" is simply omitted. Marcocapelle (talk) 06:55, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose. Not consistently capitalised in running text. -- Necrothesp (talk) 10:52, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose per Marcocapelle's example, I'm not convinced WP:THE is met here. (t · c) buidhe 03:00, 2 November 2020 (UTC)
- Marcocapelle and Buidhe, well there are independent sources that use 'The' in the name not just the ones without 'The'; see 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 for example. Steven (Editor) (talk) 20:11, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
