Dubious

[edit]

Following a complaint to the Wikimedia Foundation, some of the unsourced or inaccurate material in this article has been removed or altered. Still remaining is the following claim, which has been marked "dubious": "The Royal Trophy is one of several new team golf tournaments between teams from rival regions of the world started since the 1990s, inspired by the popularity of the Ryder Cup." According to the correspondent, this is untrue, and The Royal Trophy is the only golf tournament of its kind. As this is not a simple matter to verify, I am noting the dispute and will invite contributors from the Wikiproject to help determine the statement's accuracy. Thank you. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 15:31, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As can be seen from the article's recent history, there is an editor who clearly sees Wikipedia as just another advertising platform. Anyway, as I recall even the organisers credited the Ryder Cup with being the catalyst for the events foundation in their press releases. Ref now added, and many others could easily be found, I'm sure. wjematherbigissue 18:24, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
