"Prince of Tennis" or "The Prince of Tennis"?
[edit]Is The Prince of Tennis and relation to Prince of Tennis? If they are different, mention should be made on each to the other; if they are the same, the articles should be merged and one made a redirect. -- Infrogmation 17:54, 29 Feb 2004 (UTC)
Placing 'The' won't really change anything excepting on how you call it. It is the exact same thing.
Viz names
[edit]If someone knows all the Viz names, let's please have all the article names there. I believe that in the case of The Prince of Tennis, the Viz names match the MoS for Japanese articles. WhisperToMe 00:52, 9 Sep 2004 (UTC)
They are related...and yes they should be connected.
Episode list
[edit]I can't seem to find out which episodes are in what season. I've done 1-4, but I don't know about the rest. Havok 07:35, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Check Tv.com under Tennis no Oujisama.
I separated the seasons. There could be an error a bit but this is pretty much it. GatoGirl 12345
More movies
[edit]Two anime movies(a main feature and a mini-movie)were spawned while the series was still airing,but I don't quite know all the details...Ranma9617 06:30, 13 October 2005 (UTC)
Merging mada mada dane?
[edit]Why should we merge mada mada dane into prince of tennis? It seems more reasonable to merge it into Ryoma Echizen, if anything. Anybody have an opinion? --Raiknii 20:23, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
Agree to merge mada mada dane into Ryoma Echizen!
- Seconded --Anoma lee 11:14, 12 March 2006 (UTC)
- I agree --WikiPoTechizen 11:23, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
Echizen and the JTA
[edit]The article states that the Japanese Tennis Association has accepted Ryoma Echizen as a formal image character of the organization. I have been searching the official JTA webpage, but couldn't find any information about this. Can anyone provide a source for this? Ufretin 14:01, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
Youhei and Kouhei Tanaka
[edit]Youhei Tanaka and Kouhei Tanaka from Jyosei Shonan, do you think they look feminine? And are they male or female?
--Vera26 19:55, 12 July 2006 (UTC) They are male. In the span of the series, the tennis teams Seigaku faces are compromised of male junior high students.
Merge from Jyosei Shonan
[edit]The content in Jyosei Shonan needs to be merged into this article. I've placed the content below as that article is likely to be deleted.
Their coach: Hanamura Aoi is a woman who refers to her students as masterpieces and constantly tries to recruit new students especially Ryoma.
Regulars
[edit]Captain: Kajimoto Takahisa: Singles 1.His flexibility is used in his serve where he bends his entire body back and releases it like a catapult.
Vice-Captain: Reiji Shinjou: Singles 2.Hanamura's perfect masterpiece. He abandoned his old play style Deep Impulse, all shots are aimed at opponent, for a new play style that Hanamura taught him, Mirage.
Hiroshi Wakato: Singles 3. He can copy any famous pro playing style using his Change Over technique. Very popular with the ladies.
Kouhei Tanaka: Doubles 1 with Youhei Tanaka. Often thought mistaken for a girl and twin brother of Youhei Tanaka. Has very good eyesight which together with his brother's good hearing allows them to predict their opponents moves.

Daichi Kiriyama: Doubles 2 with Kakeru Oota. His small body and his partner's big body form the Thunderbolt, where Daichi jumps of Kakeru's shoulders and returns high shots.

– I think it should be left as a separate article even if it is a school that was shown in the anime. After all, this Prince of Tennis article is for both the anime and the manga, until we have separate articles for the anime and for the manga, I think it should be left separate. Music
[edit]Just out of curiosity, why was the old listing of opening theme songs and ending theme songs removed? Vera26 06:14, 18 August 2006 (UTC) Here was the original listing of the music, should it have it's own page, or be merged with the main article again, or merged with the episode list?

Manga Pause/Stop?
[edit]I was just wondering why is the Prince of Tennis manga still at only chapter 315? Chapter 315 was released like a month ago on Shonen Jump, and no new chapters have been released as yet. Does anyone know why, as other mangas in Shonen Jump and continuing to release new chapters, while PoT manga has been paused/stopped. Does anyone have any information about this? If so please comment.
Armuk 17:11, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
I thought it was because the mangaka was ill, but I could be wrong. Someone had edited on the wikipage for PoT that the mangaka was ill, but it looks like it's been removed.
Vera26 07:38, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
It seems he was injured in an accident, so the series was on hiatus, but since new chapters have started coming out, Konomi has recovered and the series is underway, which I have mentioned in the article.

Characters section
[edit]I've just spent quite a bit of time reorganizing and making changes to the article to create a somewhat coherent Characters section. As noted in my edit summary, it still needs a LOT of work, including possible little one-line descriptions of the main characters, possibly all the characters, but I'm somewhat new to the series and thus I can't write them myself. ^^; Also, now that all the Characters are in one spot, it looks like an awfully large section, about half the article's scroll length, if not more, for very little relevant content. Would there be any support for making a theoretical List of Prince of Tennis characters page, instead of having it on this article? Nique1287 03:16, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
Trick Shots
[edit]There have been a variety of "trick shots" that differ from hitting the ball normally. So far only two have been revealed, the unnamed shot were the ball spins and the snake shot, where you hit it in one direction, but upon entering the opponent's side of the field it changes directions. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Srn743 (talk • contribs) 00:45, 23 January 2007 (UTC).
- Actually, there are far more than just those two that are revealed throughout the series. They're listed, however, on the pages for the characters themselves, not here, because to list all of every character's special moves here would be waaay too long a list. Also, what has this to do with the article? Talk pages are not forums, they're for discussing changes to the article. Nique1287 00:52, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
- Just to make a point clear, not all of the unbelievable shots are fake, snake is possible just not the same way as depicted and so are some others. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by FranzSS (talk • contribs) 22:04, 1 April 2007 (UTC).
Helping out
[edit]I'm interested on doing some stuff for this series, like Rokkaku's school profile and some players, using the parameters that the others are made on. Is someone already doing that, or can I do so? (If I don't have any reply by tomorrow I'll start doing it.) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ravsieg (talk • contribs) 18:37, 7 March 2007 (UTC).

Prince of Tennis as shonen-ai?
[edit]Some said that the series of the prince of tennis have a little shounen-ai.Some of the little evidences are, when Eiji cries to Oishi when lost, and when Fuji worries to Tezuka when he goes to Germany. Pls. cite a comment on this topic.--WikiPoTechizen 12:29, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Videogames
[edit]I haven't played them, but I know that Prince of Tennis has several videogames made from it. Where should they be added? Lijakaca (talk) 01:37, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Character List
[edit]Due to the fact that character listings are no longer on this page, a couple of characters seem to have slipped through the cracks. The Seigaku and Rival Schools pages seem to cover most characters, but a few ones can't be found. I know we don't need to cover every single little character, but I think Inoue and Shiba in particular are worthy of note. They're introduced in the very 2nd episode of the anime, and are present for nearly every major event. Several manga chapters and anime episodes are driven by their presence, so they probably deserve mention. The same goes for Sasabe and his dad, who at least deserve some type of listing.
Should we put some character listings back on this page, or would it make more sense to modify the Rival Schools page to be a catch all 'List of Characters in Prince of Tennis' page? Kuwabaratheman (talk) 08:14, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- I agree, it'll be a good place to merge minor characters like Nanako Meino and schools with very little information, including the American team, which has info that doesn't even relate to the team itself. And yes, the rival schools page would be a good start; I'll just move it to List of Prince of Tennis characters in order to save the history. I'll go work on it right now. Actually, I just realized I drafted one in my Notepad, so I'll just do that.
- OK. Done. DarkAngel █▀▀007▄▄█ 05:18, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Dating Sims?
[edit]What? I read the section for Video Games....... and I just happened to notice that it says that some of them are dating sims. Since when is the Prince of Tennis about dating. If this is true please tell me...... because I don't think this is true. Jump Guru (talk) 22:00, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
- The franchise itself has nothing to do with dating, but the series has spawned some dating sim games for the Playstation 2.Kuwabaratheman (talk) 22:16, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
...Ended?
[edit]This is the end of my life! Did the Prince of Tennis series end already?! Slapmeorelse (talk) 14:38, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, the series has ended already, and so does the manga...if you want proof, go to the article...the series ended at ep178 but there are still OVAs...the manga ended at chapter 300~ something (can't remember...) (spoiler hint: ryoma returned to the US, and it's unknown if he will ever go back to Seigaku...) -Heran et Sang'gres —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.97.148.39 (talk) 13:17, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
The Prince of Tennis manga has ended, HOWEVER, the New Prince of Tennis has come out (with roughly 18-20 chapters to date). They are releasing new chapters each month and are describing the events a couple months after the Nationals.

Cleanup
[edit]The character lists need to be consolidated - In particular minor characters and schools need to be merged. WhisperToMe (talk) 03:57, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
- I agree. I've been looking through some of the PoT character-related articles, and actually found two articles for Akira Kamio (Kamio Akira). The only schools that I think actually need articles are the one with actual history or info on the school itself, like Hyotei, Rikkai Dai, and of course Saigaku (though they do need cleaning up and merging of their members). The rest probably don't need it. And, besides the most recurring characters (apart from Seigaku members), some don't need their separate articles. I'll try to reformat the main character article, so it'll fit the merged schools. DarkAngel █▀▀007▄▄█ 03:29, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

"New The Prince of Tennis"?
[edit]Am I the only one who thinks this sounds awkward. It would sound better as "New Prince of Tennis", in my mind. Both are equally valid since the English portion of the logo still simply says "The Prince of Tennis", and we don't really know what Viz will call it until they release it, which is probably a few years away. Any other thoughts on which title is better? kuwabaratheman (talk) 01:37, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
- Well since VIZ has not planned a realize yet, it should just stick to it's Japanease name as New Prince of Tennis as cited by Anime News Network. I wrote it as New Prince of Tennis but someone must've added the "the" in there. DragonZero (talk) 07:27, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
- I've gone ahead and deleted 'the', but I was just curious if there had been a reason someone put it in like that. It makes sense to stick with this title for now, barring anything more official.kuwabaratheman (talk) 07:32, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
Small Edit:
[edit]Change wording of "Favorite move" to "Signature move" - Favourite implies that they would prefer to use the techniques in play, whereas signature is more suggestive of what the players are known for. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.107.113.106 (talk) 12:20, 20 January 2011 (UTC) Also I found an error near the beginning that needs clarification that is when in December?
