(Recent) Origins of this article
[edit]I see this article has been tagged for notability. FWIW: This page was created because it was a red link on another page. As of 21 JAN 2014, 14 pages (six topics, six bios, and two talk pages) link here, too. The group is in a state of flux right now, having just gone through a bumpy (some might say scandalous) change in leadership. Former NBA star Kevin Johnson (mayor of Sacramento) is the current president. Its (apparently) official website was out of date when I created this article, which was coincidentally around the time of the leadership change. I don't have a strong personal reason for wanting it to stay here except that it took up a few days of my life creating it, and I'd hate to think someone else had to repeat that work. Also, it seems like minorities - that is, from a Wikipedia systemic bias POV - might want to keep what little inroads are made in being represented on WP. - this is an interesting development. the organization appears to be notable, so i will replace the notability tag with the 'outdated' tag. 173.85.202.225 (talk) 17:42, 19 September 2015 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: moved. Jenks24 (talk) 14:40, 27 September 2015 (UTC)
The Conference of Black Mayors → National Conference of Black Mayors – This has been in the news lately, and nearly all sources describe this organization as "The National Conference of Black Mayors", or "NCBM" when abbreviating. 173.85.202.225 (talk) 18:01, 19 September 2015 (UTC)
- Support. Leaving aside the fact that this article is years out of date in general, the name change apparently didn't stick. They are "The National Conference of Black Mayors" in the press and "National Conference of Black Mayors, Inc." in government filings. 209.211.131.181 (talk) 21:23, 19 September 2015 (UTC)
- Although the article has now been moved out of process, per WP:THE it should still be moved to the title proposed above, rather than the current title of The National Conference of Black Mayors. The definite article is not needed. 209.211.131.181 (talk) 23:06, 26 September 2015 (UTC)
- The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
