Rewrite
[edit]The "Overview" looks like it writen by a 12 year-old, It's probably best just to delete the whole thing and copy and paste the filler description from Bethesda's webpage untill someone rewrites it.
- I'm going to delete some of the useless infomation in the overview, nobody wants or needs to know about who reviewed first.124.176.44.158 22:39, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
- It looks like someone vandalized the overview section... and possibly more... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.190.22.200 (talk) 21:49, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
Warning!
[edit]I just got this game and I think theres a bug, because my characters all move backwards slowly and glitch forward even slower! is this just mine?--Daniel Berwick 01:04, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
- It might not just be yours, but it's not a universal bug, since this is the first time I've heard of it. Probably doesn't need to go into the article. VoidTalker 16:46, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
Retail package
[edit]Is there any info on a retail package being released. I read about it somewhere, I think. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 63.226.180.162 (talk) 17:05, 3 April 2007 (UTC).
I remember reading that as well, but IGN said that a retail version was not going to happen. I believe it was mentioned in their review. I'll try to find this later.--Cyrus Andiron t/c 13:49, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
Yeah it was in game informer. They are usually reliable.

Spoiler warning required
[edit]The overview section requires a spoiler warning as it gives details of plot ending and twists... I don't know much about editing but I'll give it a go myself, will probably need cleaning up after though anyway --Careless hx 14:12, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
Hmm that was easier than I thought... might be worth splitting the marked section off into a new section called 'Plot' but I'll leave that for someone else to decide --Careless hx 14:17, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
Either it was reverted or something went wrong. I think it should be slightly rewritten so the spoilers can be flagged separate from the general plot outline. MassiveDamage 05:50, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
- The thing is, a spoiler tag isn't needed. This isn't a game site, it's an encyclopedia - we are supposed to cover everything, whether that means including "spoilers" or not. The Wikipedia:Content disclaimer says as much. An article on a game has to discuss some aspects of gameplay, characters, and plot details - this is the expected norm, not something that needs a warning tag. — Carl (CBM · talk) 06:01, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
- I agree. I note that the tag was placed in the overview. Obviously it will give details, because this is an encyclopedia. Generally speaking the spoiler tag is redundant if it appears to flag something where one would expect to find it.--Tony Sidaway 09:55, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
- I used wikipedia a lot in past to get information about books and such. Every time there were spoilers in article, they were flagged. I expected similar here and was dissapointed with lack of it. Simple "spoilers below" would be enough. (83.142.223.24 17:14, 27 August 2007 (UTC))

- I expect spoilers in a Plot section, not in an Overview section. I came on here to learn more about the game as I was considering buying it, and now the ending has been spoiled. JovBlackheart (talk) 13:15, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
FormID reference bug

Publisher
[edit]I have a copy of Shivering Isles (including Knights of the Nine) for the XBox 360 in front of me, and it says it was published by Ubisoft, not 2K games. Could somebody look into this? --Muna (talk) 11:56, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
Incorrect dating?
[edit]First sentence of the second paragraph in Production, release, and availability
"Originally, the Xbox Live Marketplace release of Shivering Isles was scheduled for March 27, 2007, but an unscheduled Xbox Live maintenance was announced and the launch day was moved forward to March 26, 2007." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.99.200.168 (talk) 02:05, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
- "Moved forward", as in "moved closer to the present". If it had been moved "backward", it would perhaps have been released on March 28? Or March 29? Or in 2009? So yeah, happy Xbox campers got their Isles a day early. The cite reads, in part: "The game was originally scheduled tomorrow, but "the team" (they're related to the "Top Men" we always hear about) were able to get the game up early." Geuiwogbil (Talk) 02:20, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
Light/ Heavy Armour comparisons
[edit]I understand that this may be irrelivant, but light armour is made for scout-type people or archers. So, comparing the Amber armour to the Madness Ore armour is, in my opinion, like comparing a dune buggy to a tank.Blade Kassan (talk) 02:29, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
GA Review
[edit]- This review is transcluded from Talk:The Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the review.
- It is reasonably well written.
- a (prose): b (MoS):
- In the Reception section instead of saying "XYZsite said that...", list the person who made said review, such as "John Doe from XYZsite said that...". That puts the onus on the reviewer rather than the website.
- fixed. Nergaal (talk) 01:49, 8 August 2009 (UTC)
- (for future reference) Also remember (I corrected it for you) that we use the third person ("the player", "players", or "they" but not "he or she") and not the second person ("you"). Also avoid using words like "however", "although", or any other common words to avoid or weasel words that may suggest partiality or original research. You may also want to look at WP:PUNC at the proper way to use quotations, more specifically that if the quotation is not a sentence of its own, then the end quotation mark precedes the end punctuation.

A plot mistake
[edit]Excuse me, but I've just read just under the article title:
"The player becomes Sheogorath's protégé, and together they try to defeat Court of Madness, Jyggalag, thus preventing the isles from being destroyed".
The Court of Madness is faction of both Lord Sheogorath and PC, thus, saying that they together try to defeat Court of Madness means that they are fighting with themselves. Sheogorath and PC are trying to defeat the Grey March caused by the shifting of the "old" Sheogorath into his true Jyggalag form and prevent this shifting in the first place. Sandbox is not the same as RPG
[edit]Edited the sentence "As with the original game and the first expansion, Knights of the Nine, The Shivering Isles is an example of open-ended or sandbox-style gameplay also known as a RPG or role playing game." Failure

This article is incomplete
[edit]Please note that if this article were to go to FAC with no changes save the copyedit that was just requested, I will oppose it as being incomplete.
Shivering Isles, unlike KotN, saw the creation and addition of dozens of new enemy types, set pieces, inventory items, and locations. The art style was a major break from the main game, limiting resource sharing. In short, there was a ton of resources put into this expansion, much more than most game expansions and DLCs see.
That there is no discussion of the artistic style, no discussion of the difference in tone between the main game and the expansion, and no discussion on the amount of resources that went into the development of the expansion is unacceptable. I think you're leaving a gaping hole in the article, and I'm not afraid to call you out on it.
I'm actually rather surprised that this made GA with so much missing.
Sorry, but at least I'm letting you know ahead of time. Sven Manguard Wha? 07:51, 7 August 2011 (UTC)
- I have removed the GOCE copy-edit request: the requestor is on a one monthe block, and the article is in apparent need of extensive work (a GAR has also been offered as one outcome). Once the work is completed, or if the GAR feels a ce is appropriate, please feel free to replace it on the GOCE requests list. Chaosdruid (talk) 22:33, 8 August 2011 (UTC)
