Summaries

[edit]

just a note, only the first few books have a summary, but the rest do not. shouldn't they all have summaries?

  • Yeah, I think we should try and give detailed summaries to all the books. I've written summaries for a few, but I can't properly remember the plots for all of the books, as it's been a long time since I've read them. Cyclone49 01:21, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Should this be broken into multiple articles? It says it is too long.Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii 23:27, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, I think should probably wait a bit before we do. Perhaps when each book has a long summary it should be split up. Cyclone49 05:36, 16 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think now is a good time. I'd like a second opinion before I take care of it, though. --EndlessVince 04:54, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As we're in the process of creating an individual article for each Animorph book, I'll start to link those to this page. --Matt 15:28, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The only novels left that seem to need separate pages are #23: The Pretender, #46: The Deception, and Megamorphs #3: Elfangor's Secret.

Is it possible to list the reading order for the entire series? Including the Chronicles, Visser, etc.

The image gallery shatters the critera set at WP:NFCC. We cannot have this mamny book covers on one article. hbdragon88 19:55, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There also needs to be a list of all the books (including the mega's and the chronicles) in a chronological order, You know in-world. I'll try to make one and If some one wants to take it off Tell me before you do it so I can save a copy on my pc. Arkkeeper (talk) 23:40, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Chronological list

[edit]

This list needs a new field numbering the chronological order of the books. It should not be a separate list, rather a new field in the existing list. The field is sortable so readers can sort along publication order or chronological order with one click. For creating sortable tables see Prix Goncourt as a template example (notice how some fields are sortable and others not).

The below list copied from Chronological list of Animorphs books which was deleted at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Chronological list of Animorphs books.

The IP user 69.42.10.109 opened Animorphs Chronicles, The Andalite's Gift, In the Time of Dinosaurs and Back to Before up for discussion for merging with this page in October 2014. Given that there has not been any discussion after a year and-a-half, I am closing this proposal. DARTHBOTTO talkcont 00:30, 22 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect?

[edit]

Why does this page's link to Megamorphs 3 (Elfangor's Secret) redirect back here? This doesn't seem to have happened to any of the other Megamorphs books. (Unsure about the rest of the series, though, since there are an awful lot of articles to check through.) Majutsukai (talk) 12:31, 24 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

What I think should happen to this page

[edit]

First, make one table for all the books in the Animorphs franchise. In other words, merge the main series and the companion books.

Make the default sorting for the single table a book's publication date, because that is the reading order.

The table should have six columns.

1) Number. For the main series, it is 01, 02, et cetera. For companion books, it is (for example) Megamorphs 1, Megamorphs 2, et cetera.

2) Title.

3) Publication date. Month YYYY. If two books were published in the same month, then I am not sure what to do. Remember, the default sorting for the entire table is this column...so I need to figure that out.

4) Ghostwriter (if applicable). Sort by last name. Right now, Amy Garvey is before Elise Donner, because A is before E. But Elise Donner should be first, because D is before G.

5) Time period. Typically written Month YYYY, or Season YYYY, or just YYYY. In the same column, below the date, how readers know when it takes place. For example, "[Character] says it is [YYYY]" or [Character] mentions [Name of movie / TV show]."

6) Narrator. A few books have multiple narrators, and I think there should be a standard format to list them. I would go in order from first to last. For example, with 19, The Departure, write "Cassie and Jake". With 34, The Prophecy, write "Cassie and Aldrea" – I think writing "Cassie / Aldrea" counts as a spoiler that they share a mind. Also worth noting, with 32, The Separation, write "Rachel" – I think writing "Split between Nice Rachel and Mean Rachel" counts as a spoiler that her mind is separated.

I do not think the table should include a summary of each book, because that will make it very long.

Second, when the table is complete, copy and paste it within the main article, "Animorphs", in the section "Books".

Third, delete this page.

Fourth, because the single table includes a column for ghostwriters, the main article "Animorphs", section "Books", sub section "Ghostwriters" should be deleted. The explanation of why ghostwriters were needed should stay, probably below the table. 108.20.199.76 (talk) 18:52, 3 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If two books were published in the same month
They should be in chronological order. For example, "The Hork-Bajir Chronicles" before "The Pretender".
If that order is not known, then the main book should be first. 108.20.199.76 (talk) 19:05, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
