Teylers Challenge

[edit]

To create a reliable starting point for the multilingual Teylers Challenge, I have adjusted this page and added info + pictures.Gjjanse (talk) 16:03, 21 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nice work! It reads more like a story now. I also love the new pictures, but there are too many doubles: pick one of the spaarne entrance, and one of the oval room. I think a better breakdown of the collection in chronological order is needed; start with the oval room, and split off from there into the separate rooms for the lab, library, and 1st painting room, with links. This page should link to 1) oval room page, 2) Martin van marum page, 3) Wybrand Hendricks page, 4) society pages & fundatiehuis, more or less in that order of importance. The links should also be presented chronologically; the oval room should introduce the first curators,, as well as linking to a separate page on the astronomical tower, the minerological cabinet (not three yet), and some of the older instruments. The lab should introduce the 2nd society prize winners and more of the older instruments and of course good old mosasaurus, the painting room should introduce the prints and artists, ending with the new wing architect link (ok, not there yet). We really need a map showing the evolution of the rooms! Jane (talk) 04:04, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You're right: there's still quite a bit to be done...! We're working on the map. Thanks for your useful suggestions. I'll see what I can do this week. Gjjanse (talk) 12:49, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
About the pictures: changed two doubles + added picture of Fossil Room II. Gjjanse (talk) 13:05, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Also did some work on Pieter Teyler: added info, pictures, literature and links.Gjjanse (talk) 13:56, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The list of "See also" seems a bit strange. Surely these are random choices, as they are neither in alpabetical order nor order of importance, as far as I can tell. The list should be abandoned, or possibly link to Dutch Enlightenment? Jane (talk) 11:12, 4 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Teyler's MuseumTeylers Museum – This is the official name. See http://www.teylersmuseum.eu/index.php?item=1&lang=en. Cantons-de-l'Est (talk) 21:27, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have no objection - this was the name up to about a year ago when somebody moved it so maybe you can check if there's a discussion anywhere about it. Jane (talk) 21:41, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
