I am wondering - does "probably a fire that represented the possibility of life after death" in the description of the vision have a source? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.125.6.60 (talk) 06:39, 20 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Influence

[edit]

I'm no expert in Ancient Greece, but I did view the youtube video that was linked (Ref. 8). If I understand Prof. Wenn's point, it's that Soulton Hall was designed to echo the Greek Telestrion. He says that the Soulton House footprint is 55 x 55 feet, set in a precinct that is exactly 55 x 55 yards (this about at 49 min into his lecture). This he asserts is the exact dimension of the Telestrion. And the introductory paragraph in this article does state that the Telestrion had a roof measuring 55 x 55 yards, and capable of holding 3000 people. But according to the History topic in this same article, the Telestrion was built in many phases starting in the 7th C BCE, and over its existence was destroyed and rebuilt a few times (destroyed finally in 396 BCE). In the 5th C reconstruction, the builder expanded it to be able to hold "thousands of people." Around 170 CE "Marcus Aurelius had the Telestrion rebuilt bigger than it had been before." Basically it seems that Prof. Wenn's claim that Soulton House was built to mirror the Temple of Solomon and/or the Telestrion seems indirect at best.
