Mixture

[edit]

Taxine is described as a mixture of alkaloids, but sources give it a specific structure. Not sure what's going on here. Perhaps someone who knows what they are doing could expand the article.--Pontificalibus (talk) 11:07, 11 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I think when a chemical structure is attached to the name "taxine", it is actually the chemical structure of the major component, taxine A. -- Ed (Edgar181) 17:20, 12 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Treatment

[edit]

While the referenced article is well-written, the use of gastric lavage has been reviewed and been found not to be helpful in the majority of poisoned patients (overall). The American and European Societies have brought forward position statements that it should not be used since 1997 and updated in 2003/2004, and again in 2013 so I removed that section from the article. "Gastric lavage should not be performed routinely, if at all, for the treatment of poisoned patients"
