No Reliablity

[edit]

This article has major issues with substantiation, not to mention notability. Please improve, any involved. This could potentionally be nominated for deletion. Long ethnic Sharjah's aren't exactly noteworthy material here, either.--Jhelyam (talk) 23:22, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article has gotten even worse. Many sentences are completely illegible, clearly written by someone with a tenuous grasp on English. Citations are non-existent and unfounded assertions of notability devolve into disjointed who's-who lists of personalities that shed no light on the larger topic. A lot of content simply doesn't belong, but I'm not sure what parts would be worth trying to salvage here. I'm not normally one to quail at the sight of a really messy article in need of many improvements, but I don't know where to start here. AtticusX (talk) 21:22, 22 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Did a partial cleanup of the article. More cleanup may be needed. Removed some unsourced, semi promo stuff and also a sourced mention of one guy, which looks unencyclopedic. Request to refrain from adding unsourced, promo, vain, non academic material. They are against Wikipedia policies like WP:NOT, WP:NOR,WP:V, WP:RS, besides other things. Please familiarize yourself with these Wikipedia policies before adding vain, unacademic, unencyclopedic, unsourced, promotional material.Civilizededucationtalk 08:44, 6 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Am doing some cleaning up from time to time but people keep tampering with it, adding self-promotional material or inane comments. Couldnt we perhaps lock this page for general access somehow? User: Khani100 —Preceding undated comment added 11:53, 1 November 2011 (UTC).[reply]

Regarding the language and other problems with this article, have just removed an irrelevant addition by someone-- and thats a major problem, please, which Ive tried to draw attention to, time and again, in thia and several other articles such as the one on Hazara, Tanolis and etc--each time one sets out to fix an article, we have users who once again add something or the other, regarding either their own self-interests, or their own version/s of history, and most of these writers are not very well-conversant with basic English usage. Basically, Wikipedia is a public users site, we develop it, but some sort of framework must please exist, whereby the 'integrity' of an article, in basic terms of language and format should be maintainable? What's to be done? After some time, the task of repetitious editing becomes rather worrisome. Help/guidance requested pl. Thanks, Khani100 (talk) 01:41, 11 December 2011 (UTC)Khani100[reply]

Please notability standards should be maintained when adding names to list of 'notable Tareens', beter still this should not be added to and should be either removed or locked. Prof (R) Asad U khwaja — Preceding unsigned comment added by 39.54.104.201 (talk) 18:17, 16 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Reg my previous note above, although the disambiguation 'Tarin' (an alternative spelling which is also commonly used by many people here) is given in the introduction (or Tarin), there perhaps should be some disambiguation link too, for searchers on the Net? Also, please, I would request that 'Notable' people should only be restricted to those who already have existing Wiki articles. Thank you 39.54.254.147 (talk) 07:10, 3 April 2012 (UTC)Prof Asad U Khwaja[reply]

As per above comments by User;Asad U Khwaja, I agree that certain basic notability standards should be agreed upon, and lets not have this article turn into another directory of long names listings, for self-promotion etc. I have also removed a name from this list today, which isnt very notable by standards here and I would strongly recommend that only those people be listed here who already have exisiting Wiki articles of their own. Thanks. Khani100 (talk) 09:26, 16 April 2012 (UTC)Khani100[reply]

Its not reliable as many fake Tareens from Haripur who are in actual gujjar been discussed here. Azmarai76 (talk) 21:52, 19 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hayat Muhammad Khan isnot a reliable author as his coworker Sher Khan Gandapur accused him of stealing his book which latter Mr. Gandapur got published under the name Khurshid e Jahan. Apart from Hayat nowhere has been established that Tareens and Durranis are ethically the same tribe. Azmarai76 (talk) 09:11, 6 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

[edit]

Please, once again, Id request all users/editors kindly not to add names to the Notable List that are not notable by Wikipedia standards. ThanksAsadUK200 (talk) 17:56, 28 April 2012 (UTC)AsadUK200[reply]

Please note it will keep happening as long as the list isnot based upon facts and just two or three lines in some book mentioning some of these notables as merely Sepoys cannot win them a place in notables list of the tribe. For instance, no mention has been made of Pishin Khanate and many others, therefore, I suggest the list may be deleted and those who want to glorify themselves can stick to their own pages. Thanks & Regads Azmarai76 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Azmarai76 (talkcontribs) 09:28, 18 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding my above note some time ago, again today i have removed many non notable names and vandalisation to existing Wiki articles/names in list by some people. I suspect it is probably the same people who are adding their own names to notable lists but are not really notable people. Please desist from this, thanks39.54.189.244 (talk) 08:35, 31 October 2012 (UTC)MUNEER KHAN (TAREEN)[reply]

Ref to above notes by Mr Muneer Tareen and others etc I have also today removed non-notable names posted (probably in good faith) by one Khuramshehzadtareen18 have also added a note to his talk page regarding this practise, requesting not to do this. 39.54.64.170 (talk) 06:43, 5 September 2013 (UTC)Col (r) Mumtaz Khan[reply]

Please dont add any non-notable names here, only people with already existing Wikipedia articles should be added, thanks.Once again Ive removed a name that did not meet the established criteria. 39.54.174.56 (talk) 17:13, 10 February 2014 (UTC)Col (r) Mumtaz Khan[reply]
Once again, I have removed a non notable name from the list of notable names. Please ONLY ADD names of people with already existing Wikipedia articles, thanks. 39.54.48.194 (talk) 06:00, 27 April 2014 (UTC)Col (r) Mumtaz Khan[reply]
Hello, I have today removed another name from list of notables -- please, make sure you only add names of people with already existing Wikipedia articles. Kindly create/make an article and if its approved only then add the name to the list here. Thanks 39.54.115.185 (talk) 00:52, 22 January 2015 (UTC)Col (r) Mumtaz Khan[reply]

There are serious issues with inclusion of a family claiming to be Tareens hailing from Talokar village who came to limelight as Tareens in later 1880s only. The familys racial background is Talokar Gujjar and the Tareens from Darwesh Rehana and Pandak villages have great reservations to these name in the nobility list.... These include Habib Tareen page Majid Tareen page Omer Tareen page and Salim Khan Tareen page. Azmarai76 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Azmarai76 (talkcontribs) 04:50, 20 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

What 'serious issues' ? I have rechecked and edited most of these pages and they seem ok to me. As a historian I find that the Talokar Tarieen family is related to the other families you mention in other villages , they are all descended from one common ancestor and none of them are of Gujjar or other descent and they have the exact same history going back to the exact same times: indeed, from what I can gauge, the main Tareen families in Hazara belong to Talokar and Darwesh, not any other places. Besides, the list I think your'e talking about is not a 'nobility list' but a Notability one. I have now also left a very detailed historical outline on your talk-page and maybe that will help clarify your mixed up concepts; and I've also tried to explain how you could, possibly, fill up gaps in the history of this tribe by creating new pages. I would seriously advise you, rather than vandalizing existing pages you should try to make useful entries or make new articles and pages about other topics. If you have any difficulties or problems kindly do discuss with me and maybe I can be of some help in guiding you along a proper course. Thank God after so many attempts atleast Ex President of Pakistan Ayub Khan and his family has finally been permitted to be listed at Nobility List of Tareens. Same feelings on inclusion of Darwesh Tareens. It took us too long to make an editor with three handles and related to Talokars to understand this fact. Maybe he started taking medicine. Unreliable website

[edit]

I have today removed the external links which gives an unreliable website, that doesnt match up to Wikipedia standards- please dont add/list or cite from such sources which are primarily maintained or sponsored for self-promotion and/or vanity purposes. This website http://www.khyber.org is also such a site and should not be used or cited anywhere on Wikipedia thanks. 39.54.140.45 (talk) 06:00, 20 November 2015 (UTC)Col (r) Mumtaz Khan[reply]

Salams and greetings. I have fixed this page and several others linked to it, mostly relating to Notable People of this tribe . all of which seem to have been deliberately vandalized by some people, probably with some sort of grudge against this tribe or some prominent people/families. The IP addresses are all relating to Pakistan. I have decided to keep this and other linked pages on my watch list , just in case, as a measure to maintain some sort of check . Best regards AsadUK200 (talk) 16:26, 12 September 2017 (UTC)AsadUK200[reply]
Greetings again . It seems that this page has been probably vandalized again by some users, and some linked/associated pages have also been similarly vandalized by some people . These pages include Muhammad Habib Khan Tarin, Talokar (village) and Abdul Majid Khan Tarin. It also seems that all the pages vandalized have to do with one and the same family or tribe in North-West Pakistan; and the IP addresses from which these negative edits have been made also seem to stem from this same region/area, and include 39.54.110.227, 39.54.146.56, 39.54.233.15 and 39.54.25.215, there could be more too, possibly. I am keeping an eye on these changes and activities but it is not possible to do so indefinitely and I wonder if these pages should be protected , perhaps? There is , as far as I can see, a deliberate and systematic attempt to disrupt this page and these linked ones. AsadUK200 (talk) 22:46, 13 September 2017 (UTC)AsadUK200[reply]
Hi . The problem with page seems to be simple the list of notable seems to be projecting certain families only that other member of the Tareen tribe dont agree with. Therefore, the same may please be omitted to ensure that tribal identity of the Tribe only is put forth to the Internet enthusiasts. Ciao..... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Azmarai76 (talkcontribs) 08:51, 18 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Seems like some editors are even interested in promoting non entities through enlisting them in notability section of the article. I have good knowledge that these links to Wikipedia are then used by these individuals for different vested interests. Azmarai76 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Azmarai76 (talkcontribs) 19:48, 20 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, it seems that you have a complaint or problem with several sources and 'notability' of people herein. Could you kindly express these in detail here? As far as I can make out, on this basis , you have made negative edits to various articles , including this article, making personal comments against people and adding details that are not borne out by facts? Your main problem seems to be with Talokar (village) and Muhammad Habib Khan Tarin and 2-3 other pages associated with this same family or grouping ? AsadUK200 (talk) 05:40, 27 September 2017 (UTC)AsadUK200[reply]
Assalam aleykum. I note Changes of a negative type, mostly disruptive, have been made to this article recently and also other pages linking here as referred above, by the user Azmarai76 and also through a number of unregistered IP addresses. These same to be part of a linked attack on these articles. It is likely related to the above comment by the same User Azmarai76 that 'The problem with page seems to be simple the list of notable seems to be projecting certain families only that other member of the Tareen tribe dont agree with'. (see comment listed above dated 18 September 2017). This seems to be some personal carried over to Wikipedia? I feel thats not a positive approach, maybe the user Azmarai76 may be guided to add productive efforts? I will leave a message on his talk page MalikIH (talk) 02:18, 29 September 2017 (UTC)MalikIH[reply]

No original research

[edit]

There doesnt seem to be any original research here in this article, after extensive revision and editing, so am removing the tag. AsadUK200 (talk) 16:25, 28 September 2017 (UTC)AsadUK200[reply]

Since you are the editor who appears to have contributed much of the content attracting an OR tag, you are hardly "uninvolved". Please check the information about how and when the tag should be removed. FrankP (talk) 21:29, 8 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Mostly written about tareens is lie and misinformation.rulers like Najibullah Khan tareen father of great warrior and mujideen Mohammed Khan shaheed his son ghulam khan tareen shaheed ,Ahmed Khan and bostan khan tareen shaheed are not mentioned. People who are hardly tareen or want to enter in this tribe or caste have mentioned notables there family members. Sheharyar tareen (talk) 15:12, 26 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This because there's this guy who alongwith his in law and even a daughter are all over internet using different fake IDs and trying to glorify themselves very shamelessly. Azmarai76 (talk) 09:13, 6 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Questions about sources

[edit]

One of the cited sources is given as: "Ridgeway R. T. I. The Pathans (1911) Reprinted Peshawar, 1983". Does anyone have fuller bibliographical information about this text? I have been unable to find it at the British Library or at WorldCat. There should be an ISBN for the reprint anyway.

Another source is quoted as "Haider G. R. The Pashtuns - a monograph on tribal claims of their origins (1988) University of Peshawar Press". I can't find a catalogue entry for this text at the BL or WorldCat. Unfortunately the University of Peshawar does not seem to have an onine-searchable catalogue right now. Can anyone provide an ISBN and/or a library catalogue reference for this book? Thanks. FrankP (talk) 21:40, 8 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Further to the above, the reference "P J Mayne, The North West Frontier and Northern Punjab under the Durrani Afghans (An Historical Study) pub Lahore, 1911" does not seem traceable either. Are all of these fictitious references? FrankP (talk) 16:05, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I have removed everything in the article which was based on these five sources, because they are untraceable in all the catalogues I have tried. If anyone can provide evidence that they exist, such as a catalogue entry in a major library or an ISBN where applicable, then please do so:
  • Ridgeway R. T. I., The Pathans (1911) Reprinted Peshawar, 1983
  • Haider G. R., The Pashtuns - a monograph on tribal claims of their origins (1988) University of Peshawar Press
  • Mir Ali Wardi Khan, Mansabdar aha Behar (1724) translation to Urdu 1921
  • Cardew C. H. H., Bhaugalpore: a short history (1894) Calcutta
  • P J Mayne, The North West Frontier and Northern Punjab under the Durrani Afghans (An Historical Study) pub Lahore, 1911

How is the Tareen older than the Abdali? The name "Abdali" is connected to the Hepthalites. Wouldn't the Abdali tribe have come first? Akmal94 (talk) 22:46, 28 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Kindly enter some relevant and enough information regarding the history of notable Tareen tribe. The young generation needs to know about it. Kindly grant me permission to edit or add information from various historical books I've gone through. This page lack information and history about Tareen tribe. Where did they descended from? What are their branches? Who are Bor, spin, abdal later achakzai and who are zarh.

== Notable people of Tareen descent (Ayub Khan) ==

The article wrongly states Ayub Khan being from Pishin, Baluchistan. Ayub Khans own wiki article states that he was from Haripur, Hazara Division, KPK. Not Pishin, Baluchistan. Kindly correct it. 182.177.254.168 (talk) 20:27, 15 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
